GAMECOCK HOOPS DEALING WITH MORE DISCIPLINE ISSUES …
The resurgent University of South Carolina men’s basketball program has suspended its leading scorer indefinitely due to an undisclosed violation of “athletics department policy.”
Sindarius Thornwell – a 6-foot-5, 211-pound senior from Lancaster, S.C. – was suspended by head coach Frank Martin prior to the Gamecocks’ Sunday tilt against Florida International University.
No word yet on what prompted the suspension …
Through seven games, Thornwell is averaging 18.7 points, 6.7 rebounds, 4.1 assists and 1.3 blocks per contest. All of those totals would represent career highs in the event he were able to sustain them over the course of the season.
South Carolina (7-0, 0-0 SEC) is currently ranked No. 20 nationally in the AP poll and No. 23 nationally in the USA Today/ Coaches’ poll.
Stay tuned … if we hear anything on what prompted Thornwell’s suspension we’ll be sure to pass it along.
