Will Folks: Point Of Personal Privilege

THANKS FOR THE PATIENCE …

|| By WILL FOLKS || I try not to get too personal on this website because that’s not what you come here for.

Yes, I’m tempted to vent when I encounter shoddy home appliance repair work … and in late 2014 I came really close to firing off an epic rant against the asshats who sold my family our latest Truckster.  I especially wanted to rip apart the Vietnamese floor manager who told me there were no take backs at this particular dealership.  I don’t know what pissed me off more – getting stuck with the car or the fact this Ho Chi Minh bastard didn’t even have the courtesy to deliver the news to me in broken English.

A stereotypical “you pay now!” was apparently too much to ask of this guy …

Beyond all that I make (well, I’ve participated in the making of) absolutely gorgeous children.  Like these little tyrants …

Awww … right?

But I’ve got a Facebook page for my trivial consumer gripes, discriminatory Asian jokes (I’m really only racist against them when I’m driving) and cute kid pictures.  And you’re welcome to friend me there if you want.

My job on this website, though, is to break news, shape news and … on some level … entertain you.  And for the last few weeks, I’ve been falling down on that job.

What gives?  Well … I won’t bore you with all the details but my wife has been sick.  Very sick.  And the worst part is we’re still not entirely sure what’s going on with her.  We know a lot of things “it” isn’t … we just don’t know what it is yet.

Which is almost scarier.

All I know is that until she gets better, I’m going to continue focusing exclusively on her.  And our kids.  Because that’s my job right now.

To the family and friends who have gone above and beyond offering their support to us in recent weeks – thank you.  And to everyone who has sent my family kind thoughts, prayers and messages – please keep them coming.

They are needed – and welcomed.

I debated about whether to say anything at all about this but I didn’t want regular readers to wonder why articles on FITSNews were fewer and farther between than they usually are.

Also, I didn’t want my sources to think I was blowing them off.

I’m not.

Hopefully things will get back to normal soon.  Hopefully I’ll soon be cranking out copy with the ferocity and freneticism you’ve come to love/ loathe over the years.

But above all else I just hope my wife is okay.  Because at this point, nothing else really matters to me.
