“LUV GOV” REVERSES COURSE … NOW SAYS HE WILL SUPPORT “THE DONALD”
South Carolina’s flighty, ladies-deodorant-wearing first district congressional representative has reneged on his vow to oppose presumptive “Republican” presidential nominee Donald Trump in this year’s general election.
According to reporter Chris Trainor of The (Columbia, S.C.) Free Times, U.S. Rep. Mark Sanford now says he will support Trump, and that “sooner or later” the rest of the “Republican” establishment will do the same.
That’s funny … judging from the polls, no one really cares what the “Republican” establishment thinks about the upcoming election.
Least of all Sanford …
Once a principled pro-freedom, pro-free market politician, Sanford has changed dramatically since returning to politics in 2013. In fact we’ve been chronicling his descent into mushy middle-dom extensively (here, here and here).
Bottom line? It’s been nauseating to behold … not unlike the incessant naval-gazing he subjected South Carolina (and the rest of the country) to back in 2009 when he took his infamous “hike on the Appalachian Trail.”
Sanford is facing a somewhat credible challenge in this spring’s GOP primary election from another left-of-center “Republican,” S.C. Rep. Jenny Horne of Summerville.
We’re no fans of Horne’s ideology, either … but anything would be better than this opportunistic jerk-off.
Horne, incidentally, slammed Sanford months ago on this very issue – saying his refusal to support Trump was “a slap in the face to all the Republican voters in South Carolina who gave him an overwhelming victory in our recent primary.”
