… AND WHY THAT MATTERS

|| By FITSNEWS || Much to the chagrin of 95-96 percent of the “Republican” electorate in South Carolina, the Palmetto State’s senior U.S. Senator will file his paperwork to run for president next week.

That’s right …

Lindsey Graham – who can’t even break the five percent threshold of popular support in his own backyard (according to a pair of recent polls) – will officially file for South Carolina’s “First in the South” presidential primary on September 1.

That’s terrible news for the Palmetto State’s political class – which desperately wants Graham to drop out of the race.

Should he?  Duh … yes.

According to the latest Real Clear Politics’ national polling averages, Graham is in dead last place among “Republican” presidential candidates  – drawing 0.3 percent support nationally.

Seriously … this guy makes Rick Santorum‘s one percent support look positively robust by comparison.

But just because Graham’s candidacy is a national non-event – and just because voters in his home state are largely ignoring him – doesn’t mean his decision to file the paperwork doesn’t matter.

“The longer Graham stays in the race, the longer certain elected officials must wait to endorse viable candidates … thus decreasing the likelihood they would receive top posts in their administrations, should they win the nomination,” we wrote last week.

In fact they’d better wait … or else.

Graham was reelected last year to another term in the U.S. Senate thanks to a low-turnout “Republican” primary – one in which no clear alternative to his fiscal liberalism emerged.

As a result, he’s got another five-and-a-half years in office … meaning those who step out against him do so at their own peril, no matter how ridiculous his bid has become.

We thought Graham might think better of filing, thus freeing South Carolina’s political community to pursue other options …

Clearly Graham has other ideas, though.

“Congrats @LindseyGrahamSC. You just got 4 points in your home state of SC—far better than zero nationally. You’re only 26 pts behind me.”- Donald Trump

Didn’t FITSNews file for membership into the SC Press Association?

It’s a free country—or it used to be before Obama-Stalin took it over.

I’m glad GrandTango is being very progressive about supporting gays running for president.

Drop that $40,000 check off at SCGOP HQ. Thank you senator. Now you are free to drop out or stay. It won’t make any difference. The RINOs that you forced to “support” you will not be missed by the real Republicans.

Please don’t ever again use the words “robust” and “Santorum”, in the same sentence, in a post about Lindsey Graham.

Thank You.

If all of the current candidates stay in the race then Graham will be lucky to finish in the top 10.

So I read tonight that Trump has hired Nancy Mace to run his Lowcountry operation. So it all makes sense now, FITS doesn’t mind that Trump is a huge crony capitalist, supports Canadian single payer health care, has advocated for amnesty, gives to Democrats to buy influence by his own admission and on and on. So long as Trump is paying the bills for FITS, he’s willing to look past of those issues. Well, given Mace’s political track record, it does not portend well for Trump once the votes are counted.

Maybe, if he really wanted to make news, he could be the first transgender member of the senate and take some of the thunder from Caitlan Jenner.
