Maria Belen Chapur – the woman at the heart of Sanford’s 2009 sex scandal (and subsequent implosion) – will arrive in Washington, D.C. this week to visit with her man.
Hold up … didn’t Sanford break off the couple’s exceedingly lengthy engagement via an exceedingly lengthy Facebook post last fall?
“Breaking off an engagement is not the same thing as breaking up,” a source close to the couple tells FITS. “They never broke up.”
According to our source, Sanford made his nauseatingly navel-gazing social media move in an effort to get his ex-wife Jenny Sanford “off of his ass and to make her look bad.” At the time, Jenny Sanford was in the process of putting the screws to her philandering ex-husband in court.

Given our recent criticism, the “Luv Gov’s” office has a policy of refusing to respond to our inquiries (and they refused to respond to this one) – but Chapur’s visit has been confirmed by staffers in other congressional offices who are friendly with the ex-governor’s scheduling staff. One of these staffers – who works for another South Carolina congressman – tells FITS they were told Chapur will be spending a month in Washington.
Jeez … a month with Mark Sanford?

It’s been a rough year for Sanford, whose top staffers have been dropping like flies. There’s also an unflattering book coming out about him next month – not to mention the nagging of conscience that must accompany his multiple recent ideological betrayals.
Sanford is also facing the possibility of a 2016 primary challenge, although the top contender to run against him – former S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control (SCDHEC) director Catherine Templeton – is reportedly more interested in running for governor in 2018.

Why would anyone, especially a mother, delude themselves that the attentions of a married guy with kids trumps the ongoing lies and deceits they perpetrated on the innocent?
