CONGRESSMAN: “WHAT HAS THIS ADMINISTRATION DONE TO EARN OUR TRUST? NOTHING …”

|| By FITSNEWS ||  U.S. Rep. Jeff Duncan has come out against giving trade promotion authority (TPA) – or “fast track” authority – to the administration of Barack Obama for the purpose of negotiating a new crony capitalist Asian trade agreement.

Duncan announced his intention to vote against the “Obamatrade” provision via a column published on Brietbart.com.

“For the record, I am generally a free-trade supporter as long as we’ve negotiated a fair deal,” Duncan wrote.  “Helping U.S. businesses gain broader access to foreign markets, while also ensuring that Americans have access to affordable foreign-made consumer goods just makes sense when compared with higher tariffs and American businesses being shut out of certain markets for their products.”

We agree …

So … what’s driving Duncan’s “no” vote?  Easy: His well-placed distrust in the administration of Barack Obama – which would be granted sweeping new authority to impose its radical agenda under the terms of this secretive agreement.

“What has President Obama done to earn my trust and the trust of the American people over the past six years?” he wrote.  “The answer: nothing.”

Duncan rattled off a list of events attesting to Obama’s lack of trustworthiness – including the Benghazi incident, the IRS targeting scandal, the Justice Department’s intimidation of journalists, the Taliban prisoner exchange scandal, Obamacare’s documented manipulations, the executive amnesty scandal and Obama’s ongoing negotiations with Iran.

“So the question remains: what has this Administration done to earn our trust with so much authority? Again, nothing,” Duncan wrote.

There’s also this shot across the bow of equivocating “Republicans” (like South Carolina’s own Mark Sanford) …

Supporters of giving Fast Track Authority to the President will argue that the legislation contains safeguards to ensure that the President honors his commitments to Congress. However, in the past when this President has broken his word and overstepped his authority, when has Congress ever stepped up to stop him?

Wow … exactly.

Huge props to Duncan … who once again showed he is willing to buck his own party leaders in opposing Obama’s anti-competitive agenda.  In fact when the entire South Carolina “conservative” delegation caved to U.S. Speaker of the House John Boehner back in January, Duncan was the only one who stood firm.

No wonder his national profile is rising.

Let’s just hope he doesn’t have to stand alone this time …

This website has already exposed how Obamatrade is bad for America (see HERE and HERE) – and how it’s especially bad for South Carolina (HERE and HERE).  It’s time for Duncan’s “conservative” colleagues in the U.S. House to take the same principled stand he just took.

Especially those who claim to support “free trade …

Me thinks that his was one of those things that had little to no support.

Senate Republicans supported it. In fact one of them, forget which, was just hilariously whining about how Senate Dems didn’t support Obama on this.

Guess we won’t be selling any BMWs and Volvos from SC in Asia. Too bad. We could have used the jobs.

We wouldnt be with the TPA anyways. Vehicles in Asia are much smaller than the cars produced in america. one of the biggest roadblocks in the way of exporting cars to asia isnt 100% the fact that asian cars tend to be better made and cheaper than any cars exported to them, but the cars themselves are smaller because space is at such a high premium. youd have to retool the factory to make smaller vehicles, and if volvo or BMW wanted to do that they would have just put the factory in asia to begin with

I dunno, Volvo makes a pretty small hatchback.

74% of BMW vehicles produced in SC are exported. Seven of the last nine auto assembly plants announced since 2009 for North America are to be built in Mexico. There is a 10% tariff on US a built car sent to Europe. Mexican built vehicles have no tariffs when sent to Europe. For a $30,000 that is about $3,000 which is approximately the cost of assembling a car. Mexico’s trade advantage is greater than their wage advantage.

Duncans “rising national profile” will last until the SC Primary is over.

Then he will sliver back to his well deserved status as a nonentity.

If a three digit IQ were required to get your name on the ballot, Duncan wouldn’t make it..

Of course Duncan is willing to buck his party leaders. Duncan is out for himself. Like “dumint” he is angling for that big paying job with some conservative pac group. Simply stated Duncan doesn’t give a shit about the people he “represents”, only himself.

He’s in the House, too, not the Senate, so this is just bloviating for the moron base.

Lucky for him, the Senate Democrats have saved him from having to put his money where his big mouth is.

What does this doofus Duncan have to say about the provisions of the actual TPP, besides “argle bargle OBAMA?”

You idiots bashing Jeff have no idea who- or what- you are talking about. I have known Jeff for most of his life and he sincerely loves this country. He is a good man and has gone to DC for all the right reasons. We are lucky to have this man representing us.

doc the only reason that your pal Duncan has gone to DC is to make $175,000 per year plus perks, and manipulate himself into a better paying job with some extreme right wing outfit like Jim Demint did. Your inane remark “We are lucky to have this man representing us.” Is not just a joke, but a complete distortion of fact. He’s a mouth piece for the extreme right and big business. If Duncan loved his country, did he serve in the military?

Fred, if Duncan is just another hack for big business, then why is he opposing this bill?

Well Tom my boy as you should know Duncan has been anti Obama since he, Duncan, has been in office. To quote your learned congressman, “What has President Obama done to earn my trust over the past 6 years? The answer: Nothing. It’s not about trade it’s about Duncan’s extreme conservative position and his hate for Mr. Obama. Never has Duncan attempted to work with the White House as his record speaks for itself. Duncan is so confused he actually thinks that the TPP is a Trojan Horse for immigration, and we all know how this astute representative from South Carolina feels about immigration from the stupid remark he made at Furman University back in 2011. When he compared undocumented immigrants to vagrants and animals? Quite a guy and same mind set as as your nom de plume come.

doc in another of your inane comments, “He is a good man and has gone to DC for all the right reasons.” Are you referring to the Jeff Duncan who compared undocumented immigrants to vagrants and animals at Furman back in 2011. Is this the same man that at his recent “Freedom Bash” in Greenville, where the GOP crowd applauds when some old lady being interview by Frank Lutz was calling immigrants “RATS and ROACHES”. Who are the idiots Duncan and “doc”????

Looks like Duncan’s pal doc is hiding! Typical of right wing nuts. Lie and hide.
