PALMETTO STATE NUMBER ONE … WITH A BULLET?

|| By FITSNEWS ||  We knew South Carolina was the most criminal state in America, so it probably shouldn’t surprise us that much to learn it’s also the most dangerous.

new study from WalletHub reaches that conclusion – yet another reason why the Palmetto State’s only real method of “economic development” continues to be bribing companies to locate here using borrowed tax dollars.

“To find the safest and most dangerous states, WalletHub measured crime rates per capita as determined by data from the Federal Bureau of Investigation,” the report stated.  “It also took into account fatalities per 100 million vehicle miles of travel; sex offenders per capita and state’s youth incarceration rates.”

To view the data for yourself, click here.

We’ve said it before, we’ll say it again: These results are sad, but not surprising.  After all, low income levels, low labor participation and low intelligence breeds crime …

What’s truly sad, though?  Our state’s law enforcement leaders seem far more focused on shutting down medical marijuana legislation than they do fighting actual crime.  And our state’s legislative leaders seem far more focused on subsidizing failure factories (and the income levels of one percenters) than letting the free market do its thing …

Has anyone read the multiple reports on mentally ill people who are killed in SC by being over tasered?

Reply
TroubleBaby April 27, 2015 at 2:44 pm

I can almost guarantee that most cops doing such tasering have no idea the recipient is mentally ill. (and the homeless population runs around 50% on average in mental illness)

Reply
SYNTwist April 27, 2015 at 2:47 pm

Because they don’t know, they should taser? I know of a case years old, a kid my child’s age, on our side of town was tasered to death. Why? Because he did not have the ability to communicate with the officers and was on a bicycle. He was trying to get to his nearby family to have them explain, but they ended up killing him before anyone had a chance.

TroubleBaby April 27, 2015 at 2:56 pm

“Because they don’t know, they should taser? ”

Geez, you presuppose so much.

I never said anything remotely near that.

I have a schizophrenic relative that’s had many run-in’s with the law for the most minor of things…they never know that she’s crazy as hell.

Some people are never happy with anything! Nothing good is going to come from resisting the police. NOTHING! Why is this so hard to figure out?

Reply
SYNTwist April 27, 2015 at 3:02 pm

I’ve never resisted. I am simply pointing out the corruption in our own state. Maybe law enforcement is part of the problem? (shrug) – draw your own conclusions or …. try to figure out the problem and a solution and then demand legislators make changes?

BitchBitchBitch April 27, 2015 at 3:17 pm

You state you have never resisted…..Have you ever been Tased or Shot by the police? I didn’t think so.

I guarantee you that police are part of the problem. They are the ones who must deal with the “people” who have earned SC the honor of being the most violent state in the nation. Now we ask them to deal with them by not shooting, tasing, tackling, using a headlock, choke hold, tackle or any other possible restraint that could potentially injure them.

I know what the problem is! The problem is that people are not held accountable for their actions. The criminal Justice system is a “Revolving door”. People are not held accountable for their actions. They commit CRIME after CRIME only to be released back on the streets for cops to deal with.

Mentally Ill- SC has NO mechanism to deal with Mentally Ill. It is the same cycle. Committal and release. Over and over and over and over!

The system is broken! Parents don’t give a shit what they raise and turn loose on the rest of us………………We just give them more benefits and a damn Obama Phone and tell them everything will be all right! Well guess what? It’s not going to be all right! It’s going to get worse!

SYNTwist April 27, 2015 at 3:35 pm

Why are the police here so violent? I am sure other states have similar problems. Look at other areas that are highly populated.

I did some digging years ago, I looked up the crime statistics. I also looked at the laws on the books – what is a crime? What qualifies as a misdemeanor v. felon? Have you looked at the laws? You might also look at some of the dumbest laws on the books. They may have made some minor “tweaks’ but the law here is not fair IMHO. These roadblocks are nothing more than a money racket – if you don’t have the money, then you go to jail.

I am sure being a poor state, undereducated and low wages play a significant role.

SC NEEDS a mechanism to deal with Mentally Ill.

Tasing The Special Needs Kids April 27, 2015 at 3:39 pm

Tons of kids and adults with Autism or Downs or other similar issues get tased on a regular basis, either because they don’t respond to the officer or freak the fuck out because they are confused or scared. Some people blame bad training but I don’t know how you even train someone to not use excessive force on somebody who obviously doesn’t deserve it. If something like that comes natural then perhaps that person just shouldn’t be a cop.

Reply
SYNTwist April 27, 2015 at 3:56 pm

Well, the key questions before tasering – do they have a weapon? Do you feel they are a threat? How can they justify tasering someone to death who is on a bicycle and weaponless?

Hell, if I were to err, I think I’d let a boy on a bicycle, who has no weapon, just go….it isn’t like he has a license plate with a criminal record. He is obviously a scared kid or young adult. Even a homeless person?

I think Greenville County finally trumped Spartanburg for domestic violence? Or was it violent crime?

Shhh, it will spoil his rant to point out that the “urban centers” drive these statistics and that most are run by Democrats.

Don’t bother mentioning that Democrats Governors have been in charge of our state from 1876-1975, again from ’79-’87 and again from ’99-’03.

Or that the legislature was solidly Democrat from 1878-1996.

So I guess you support the idea that all of this happened overnight since the shift from majority Democrat gubernors to majority Republican gubernors and that’s the real cause?

Jonny Logic April 27, 2015 at 3:55 pm

No, I would say the cause is the ignorance of the populace combined with the Republicans ability to capitalize on, and abuse, this ignorance.

The Colonel April 27, 2015 at 3:57 pm

So you do agree that “…it’s all George Bush’s fault…” – and you dorks wonder why nothing gets done.

Jonny Logic April 27, 2015 at 4:05 pm

Nope, a lot of our current USA problems started with Reagan and his idiotic tax cuts. Clinton bears some blame for the mortgage crisis, along with Bush I. Georgie part duex, however, was a disaster of epic proportions that will likely never be fully be comprehended by current technologies.

The Colonel April 27, 2015 at 4:09 pm

Well then let’s look just a little further back to none other than LBJ and the (no so) Great Society. $22 trillion and roughly 80 welfare programs later, minorities are further behind in many important categories and the standard solution lately appears to be “…we can’t fix it so we’ll bring in more minorities…”. I blame both sides fairly equally.

Mike at the Beach April 28, 2015 at 3:09 am

Thanks for chiming in, Clueless. You obviously don’t understand that not only are the COL’s stats accurate, they remain relevant. As the politics changed in the south (including SC), new politicians didn’t get voted into legislatures en masse, the existing pols simply switched parties in many cases. So, not only was our State House Dem all the way through 1996, it’s still populated by Republicans who espouse the right ideals from time to time, but vote like Dems with great regularity. More to the point, the crime stats are too complex to get into here, but anyone who thinks it’s more dangerous to live in SC than in the Northeastern corridor of the US (or ANY major metro area nationwide) is delusional. Our pissant crime can’t even compare, except in a few exceptional categories. Move to Chicago if you want to see what REAL violent crime smells like…

A little off the topics, but not so much. We are talking dangerous. As all you know, I am not your religious type. However, there was a case in SC if I recall correctly, where a preacher sorta guy (don’t recall denomination) decided to feed the homeless in a public park.

The man was sent to jail repeatedly. They were destroying the public parks. Hey – wait a minute, doesn’t our tax dollars pay for that kind of stuff? I guess residents were complaining their kids couldn’t play there?

I understand, I wouldn’t like it either, but given the choice of my child playing on a pubic park, for fear of homeless people, or not visiting the park. I would have chosen not to visit the park.

I suppose parks are free (save our tax dollars) to only those who have a job? What if I don’t have a job tomorrow? Not that have one today – that pays, but what if I was down on my luck? What if I had paid into taxes to build this park? What if I decided that I wanted to take advantage of the taxes I might have paid for said park and feed the hungry?

None of this makes sense to me. It does explain the crime rate IMHO.

It has nothing to do with Red or Blue, it has to do with people. It also has a lot to do with government incentives IMPO.

I do understand why people want to make this a red or blue issue, but it isn’t. It is about people of all races, of all political affiliations and family.

It is that simple in my mind. It is time for the people to come together and stop this division of politics and/or race. Together we could do a lot of good. Divided, we can continue the fight right down to the last crumb of crackers.

“There are no laws in the FITS world, crime free!”

I have no idea what a “FITS world” is like, but it’s important not to confuse it with libertarianism.

A libertarian society would still have law, based on natural law & enforcement of negative rights.

It’s the rejection of “positive rights”, which obligates others, that is the hallmark of libertarianism. There is no such thing as victimless crime in a libertarian world.

So in summary, there’s not an “absence of law” in a libertarian world. Just an intense focus on harm to person/property.

Let me ask a question. Your family is poor, hungry to the point of starving, you are harassed based on color. What would you do?

I’ve asked the same question of some family members who don’t have that problem, but the answer is – I’d steal, I’d rob, I’d do whatever it took to survive.

I too am a survivor – I don’t have need a do those things, but if I did, I would. Fight or flight (flight = death). I would fight.

Otto Greif April 27, 2015 at 6:10 pm

Blacks aren’t starving, most of them are fat.

You are just mean. Maybe you don’t realize it, but you are. You are judgmental based on race. At the risk of putting some of my more conservative friends in a total attack mode.

Blacks in the South have a shitty deal. The period at the end of that sentence says it all.

Otto Greif April 27, 2015 at 6:18 pm

I’m telling the truth. You, on the other hand, are making excuses for rapists and murderers.

SYNTwist April 27, 2015 at 7:27 pm

No, I am not making excuses, maybe you are making excuses why they are criminals? Why they are black? Why they worked the cotton fields? Why people like me, who are color blind start to see color. We are making them hate us – hate us as a race.

I detest debates on race, religion or ,,,, ignorance. Maybe it is time for TB to come back, b/c I am certainly ready for an argument….LOL j/k. A little.

All many care about is how much someone makes, that is a person to be used or mocked. If they are female, it is an excuse to say they f^cked their way to the top.

It really don’t make care, what stats show (contrary to the fact I wish it did), most people can look out their window and determine who their neighbors are, what they are about. It doesn’t matter if they are black or white. It matters how they treat each other.

All one needs to do is spend time, get to know other folks. I will tell you this. I had a mix at my house, during child’s teenage years. The blacks were not the problem. Some, yes, but not majority. The problem is, mob rule. When they get together and hate on white, as whites have hated on them – they are less forgiving.

I know many a horrible cases 2nd hand, but what you do if you had no choices? You knew they were looking out for you? This happens both black and white, but it’s a shit game. They are hurting the young.

Rapists? Murderers? Those closest to the family are the ones how are most subject to abuse.

Juss wunderin April 27, 2015 at 6:17 pm

Why are you having a family if you can’t afford to feed them?

SYNTwist April 27, 2015 at 6:19 pm

Juss Wunderin, keep wunderin – my opinions are my own. As is my personal life, which I have share far to much on this site. I don’t need your crumbs.

I don’t want to pay for them either, unless my wishes are in the mix.

I have posted repeatedly on this site the stats and income. For full disclosure I am white. The stats, show blacks make less than whites, I have posts links, they make almost 1/2 what whites do. Yet, the incarceration rate is higher? Is there a correlation rate between ability to hire a lawyer and the black crimes?

Until we figure this out – all debates are really off the table. The gap will continue to widen, the crime will continue to climb, black v. white will continue to be ugly.

Why not say I’m sorry? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PegPGvfqGLA

Blacks make less than whites because they have lower IQ’s.

SYNTwist April 27, 2015 at 6:15 pm

Why do they have a lower IQ? IN SC? Do you think Condaleeza Rice has a lower IQ than you?

Otto Greif April 27, 2015 at 6:16 pm

Genetics.

SYNTwist April 27, 2015 at 6:17 pm

There are many things that play into the role of genetics – one is the fact they were oppressed?

Otto Greif April 27, 2015 at 6:19 pm

No.

SYNTwist April 27, 2015 at 6:20 pm

Why don’t they have this problem in the north? Jus’ wonderin’

SYNTwist April 27, 2015 at 6:56 pm

I can’t get that link to work, not your problem, but an issue I need to work out on my end. It wants to download and I am not allowing that – way too any download/virus issues.

Interesting some links work, others don’t. None of these work, but I know it isn’t your fault – I see where the URL originates, just not able to open right now.

However, the issue was does the north have same problem, one your URL’s is SC Sled?

Pretty sure Bakari Sellers makes more in a month than I make in a quarter. I am white, he is black.

Southern Patriot April 27, 2015 at 5:50 pm

This just proves that in South Carolina all’s equal and the courts are
on the level and the strings in the books ain’t pulled and persuaded
and even the nobles get properly handled once that the cops have chased
after and caught ’em and the ladder of law has no top and no bottom

“… We’ve said it before, we’ll say it again: These results are sad, but not surprising. After all, low income levels, low labor participation and low intelligence breeds crime …”

I don’t believe it is “low intelligence” as much as it is ordinary ignorance. That IS the school system problem in a nutshell.

If youth are not being taught about the “rules”, well, how are they supposed to know? … If youth are not being taught the difference between right and wrong, well, how are they supposed to know? …

So long as the Democrats and RINO Democrats are in charge of the education system, we will continue to have the poor and pathetic lower classes kept dumb enough to continue to vote for the Democratic Party elite. Come on down to the real Corridor of Shame schools and check them out. Sic – your boy Tom Davis is directly plugged into this system. Have you written a story about his wanting to change the Jasper County Schools yet? Is he holding anyone accountable yet? Don’t waste your time googling for an answer to those questions. The answer is NO. Molly Spearman? She has to ask Inez and Queen Jean before she even eats lunch each day.

It would have been nice if the report went a step further and broke the crime rate down by county. I bet Richland County would top them all. Little Chicken Hawk Leon Lott is doing a great job!

These surveys are more like marketing ploys for the states like Minnesota that need to pump up their Tax Based population along with tourism since more people vacation in the south, places like yes even South Carolina and Alabama don’t really need to depend as much on these top 10 Promotional Tourism Lists’ as much as the cold blue states of the north like North/South Dakota and Minnesota it feels more like Canada up there anyway. After spending equal time in Florida and Minnesota from my own experience there are far more dysfunctional people in Minnesota Per Capita there are more DUI’s given and their courts are much softer on repeat Convicted Criminals most of the people I met while living up there would still be behind bars in Florida. Since most people want to vacation in the south they care more about what’s going on down there. Bottom line places like Minnesota needs to be on the top 10 best places to live list so they can attract tourist to pay for their sterile superficial synthetic malls and their cheesy Mystic Lake Indian Casino! The only way to know how really screwed up it is up there is to be forced to live up there!
