VOLUNTEER ACCUSED …

But this isn’t another article in which we rail on non-core functions of government, this story is about 33-year-old Indian Land, S.C. resident Lisa Marine Fry.
According to police in Lancaster County, S.C., Fry – a volunteer basketball coach with the local parks and recreation department – had consensual sex with a 15-year-old boy on at least three separate occasions beginning last December.
As we’ve noted in our coverage of previous sex scandals, the age of consent in South Carolina is sixteen. Which makes this an honest-to-God sex scandal, not one of those manufactured “teacher sex” scandals in which consenting adults are unfairly prosecuted.
And while we know math is not the Palmetto State’s strong suit, here’s a refresher: Sixteen? Legal. Fifteen? Illegal. Which means Fry gets no “libertarian love” from us on this one, assuming of course she’s guilty.
She’s not, though, according to her attorney …
“Lisa is innocent of these charges and looks forward to her day in court,” Fry’s attorney Rose Mary Parham told The (Rock Hill) Herald.
Fry turned herself in to county police and was released on a $25,000 personal bond. She has been suspended from her volunteer duties with Lancaster’s parks and recreation department pending the resolution of the charges against her.

Come on. She was simply giving instructive supervision to the boy. He needed a few lessons, and she gave them to him. Better than finding out about it on the streets. Not to mention he’s about to be the most popular kid in his class.
