First, one of our favorite members of the S.C. General Assembly – big ‘ol, burly ‘ol Kirkman Finlay – will be hosting a fundraising this coming week. As we’ve noted on several prior occasions, Finlay – a former Columbia, S.C. councilman – is one of the few lawmakers at the S.C. State House who is actually worth a damn.
That’s why we’ve consistently supported him … as should you. And oh yeah, we’re told our favorite “Republican” columnist Taylor Brown (recently returned from our nation’s capital) will be making an appearance at Finlay’s event.
Interested in attending? Finlay’s fundraiser will be held at 5:30 p.m. EST at the First Citizens Cafe (1210 Main Street, Columbia SC 29201) on Wednesday, February 25, 2014.
Another event that’s definitely worth checking out? A town hall meeting on domestic violence – an issue which is all the rage this legislative session.
What makes this event so interesting? It’s being hosted by S.C. Rep. Mia McLeod – who has emerged as the most vocal critic of S.C. governor Nikki Haley on this issue.
McLeod is hosting the event in conjunction with Ridge View SIC, Brookland NE Baptist, Rehoboth Baptist, Journey United Methodist and First NE Baptist Churches. So it’s gonna be packed …
The event will be moderated by WACH TV 57’s Fraendy Clervaud – and invited guests include S.C. attorney general Alan Wilson and S.C. Rep. David Weeks.
McLeod’s town hall will be held at the Ridge View High School auditorium (4801 Hard Scrabble Road, Columbia SC 29229) from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. EST on Thursday February 26, 2015.

I hope Mia didn’t invite Curtis Loftis to the CDV town hall… cuz… ya know… the whole arrest for assaulting his ex-wife thing…
