DEMOCRATS SAY GOVERNOR VETOED MONEY THAT COULD HAVE HELPED VICTIMS

By FITSNEWS  ||  A day after this website slammed S.C. governor Nikki Haley and other “Republicans” for their hypocrisy on the issue of domestic violence, South Carolina Democrats followed suit … albeit from a different angle.

You can read our story responding to Haley’s creation of a “task force” to study the issue of criminal domestic violence (CDV) HERE …

S.C. Democratic Party (SCDP) chairman Jamie Harrison referred to Haley’s task force as a “perfect example of the all too typical Republican Flip Flop in South Carolina.”

“For the past few years, South Carolina has been ranked in the top five of states as it relates to women killed by men,” Harrison said. “Governor Haley and her administration have failed to lead us in an effort to address this very important issue.”

Harrison said Haley has actually taken money away from domestic violence prevention efforts – referring to her 2012 veto of $453,680 earmarked for the state’s twenty-three rape and domestic violence crisis centers.

Wait a minute … Haley actually used her veto pen to veto something?  Really?  Color us amazed …

Anyway …

“In response to a bi-partisan coalition in the House and Senate that put dollars towards the fight against domestic violence, Governor Haley vetoed the appropriation and called it a ‘special interest,'” Harrison said.  “It’s time for Governor Haley to stand up, lead, and stop blocking the funding desperately needed to stop domestic violence.  Domestic violence is not a special interest.  It is not a Democratic, Republican, rich, poor, black or white issue – it is a South Carolina issue that needs to be addressed immediately.”

Right!  Well, unless relatives of prominent South Carolina “Republican” elected officials are involved …

Planned Parenthood reported receiving a record $542 million in taxpayer money last year.

Mr.Harrison why don’t you ask them to donate to the cause-after all they found the time and money to abort 325,000 children last year.

What’s your source for that figure?

So what. They don’t use federal dollars for abortions. It’s for preventative care for women who wouldn’t be able to afford it.

Flip doesn’t let facts get in the way of his narratives.

Flip Coscoe December 18, 2014 at 12:24 pm

Woudn’t ‘preventative care’ include monies to help the victims of domestic violence or to educate people not to commit this crime?

Flip Coscoe December 18, 2014 at 12:28 pm

The Hyde Amendment indeed is supposed to prevent federal dollars from being used for abortions however we know the law doesn’t apply to those that perform such evil on the most vulnerable in our society.

They even have a pResident and first whatever that salivate over partial-birth abortion.

You are really mentally deficient.

Would you rather have people on welfare most of their lives or pay for abortions for unwanted children. Or even better – get these women on birth control so the babies don’t happen in the fist place. Common sense too much for you???

No adult should be on welfare. No work, no eat. Feed the children and give them health care.

If a mother aborts her unborn child for the reason of being ‘unwanted’ she should lose her citizenship and all benefits. if a mothers life is in danger or she is raped she should not be punished for having an abortion.

Birth control? We agree. Liberals should be sterilized so they can’t reproduce. This policy would be in adherence to the new perverted gay marriage policy that queer judges are forcing down the American people’s throats (no pun intended).

We are not that far apart.

Planned Parenthood has what to do with CDV, exactly?

Planned Parenthood SAYS it is in the business of helping women (we know that is not true-just a front for its abortion mill).

542,000 million $$$’s from the taxpayers is alot of cash-even an idiot like you understands that.

Since domestic violence affects the well being of women why not require Planned Parenthood to spend some of this money on these victims?

Reply
Beachtiger0412 December 18, 2014 at 4:41 pm

Because then planned parenthood wouldn’t have enough money for their main purpose. some people are idiots

Reply
Flip Coscoe December 18, 2014 at 8:32 pm

Their main purpose is killing unborn children. The other services they provide are a ‘front’. They are like the mob and the taxpayers fund their illegal activities.

Manray9 December 18, 2014 at 11:49 am

Haley vetoed it because there was no corporate tie-in. No upside for her.

Why address a problem, fix it, when you make millions on it ? It’s not a new concept.

SC is # 1 in deaths to women by men in 2013. They were #2 for 2 years before than. They finally surpassed Utah in number of deaths. Many men in SC still consider women and children as property. Nikki Haley could give a SH*t.
