CANDIDATE GIVEN SHORT SHRIFT AT GOP RALLY …
By FITSNEWS || Embattled S.C. Rep. Stephen Goldfinch wasn’t exactly given top billing at a “Republican” rally outside Nosh Restaurant in Pawleys Island, S.C. this week, multiple witnesses to the event told FITS. The S.C. House District 108 Representative was allowed to appear on stage at the rally – part of S.C. Gov. Nikki Haley‘s end-of-campaign whistle stop tour across the Palmetto State – but he was reportedly told during the event he would not be allowed to speak.
“He looked a little dismayed after the guy tapped him on the shoulder and whispered in his ear,” a witness told FITS. “Haley threw him a very perfunctory one liner about his reelection, then he was gone … poof!”
Goldfinch also failed to make it into any of the social media photos posted to Haley’s official Facebook page following the event.
“You smell that?” one attendee at the event remarked, referring to Goldfinch. “That’s defeat.”
Goldfinch has already received Haley’s endorsement, so we’re not implying she is in any way withdrawing her support. And Haley’s team did permit Goldfinch to stand onstage alongside her and Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal – a prospective 2016 presidential contender.
But it’s clear the GOP is looking at this House seat as a likely loss given Goldfinch’s many past problems as well as his failure to be completely honest about those issues. All these are reasons why we advised voters in the district to choose his opponent next Tuesday.
