Go Gamecock Equestrian! Errr …

Is it ridiculous that the University of South Carolina fields an equestrian team? Probably … But we’ve made our position on Title IX waste at government-funded institutions of higher learning pretty clear in previous posts (here and here), so we’ll leave that alone for now … Love ’em or hate…

Love ’em or hate ’em (or never heard of ’em), the Gamecock equestrian team is best in the country … well, out of the eighteen Division I-A programs that currently field equestrian teams.

In fact the Gamecocks have held the No. 1 spot for ten straight weeks as they seek the school’s third national championship.

One team that did get the best of them? Georgia … which emerged victorious from a tiebreaker (don’t ask us how equestrian matches are scored) in Blythewood, S.C. earlier this year. The Gamecocks get their shot at revenge this weekend when they travel to Bishop, Georgia for a rematch.

We wish them luck … for the obvious reason that there are several hotties on the squad, and our founding editor is all about getting in good with the hotties (so selfless, we know).

A “sport” below college swimming, golf, and tennis. Who is responsible for the care of the horses? Anyone who has been around horses know they’re nothing but money pits… worse than a boat.

A guy was explaining to his wife – “I bet on a horse that went a mile and a quarter in two minutes. But when they took him out of his truck he didn’t do so good. But it was a very affectionate race. The horse hugged the rail, the jockey had his hands around the horse’s neck – and I kissed my money goodbye.”

This is a really quality program. Boo Major has done an incredible job. The woman she has brought to USC are all assets to this University and community. They all have great family support. No jokes here – just a Major thank you.

Or as 99.999% of the Midlands say, “USC has an equestrian program???”.

I bet “family support” is all they have.

There used to be a joke about a horses rear and a cowboy hat that became POTUS. I think it was LBJ. I wonder what greatness awaits USC.

Sochi Hotel Guests Complain About Topless Portraits of Putin in Rooms

SOCHI (The Borowitz Report) — With the Olympics underway, hundreds of visitors to Sochi are complaining that they checked into expensive hotel rooms only to find them decorated with seminude portraits of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The portraits, showing Mr. Putin shirtless and riding a variety of mammals, adorn the walls of virtually every hotel room constructed especially for the Olympics and were created at a cost of over two million dollars, Olympic officials said.

Tracy Klugian, who travelled from Ohio with his wife to attend the Sochi Games, said that he was appalled to find his hotel room dominated by a gigantic portrait of a shirtless Putin riding what appears to be a bear.

Said Mr. Klugian, “I did not travel thousands of miles just to be grossed out.”

For his part, President Putin has been dismissive of the complaints, today calling the hotel guests “babies who cry.”

“These people who are complaining about what is on their walls should be grateful,” he said. “At least they got one of the hotel rooms with walls.”

The irony is that while the mens baseball team is limited to 11.7 scholarships, the equestrian team can have 15.
