ORLANDO, FLA. (December 28, 2013) – The University of South Carolina football team worked out for about two hours at Celebration High School in Kissimmee on Saturday morning. The Gamecocks are preparing for Wednesday’s Capital One Bowl matchup with the Wisconsin Badgers.
“(Wisconsin) is a great football team,” said offensive line coach Shawn Elliott. “They’ve got a great defense. They play a great scheme. They’re so sound and very intelligent. They don’t make a lot of mental mistakes. We’re going to have to run the football and do it well. And then find out and see what they are giving us. We’ll find out early in the ballgame and see what we can do with it and work from there.”
Coach Elliott knows the importance of winning the bowl game. “You live with it until the first game of next year,” noted Elliott. “You’ve got to live with your last game. That’s the good and the bad thing about bowl games. (A win) gives you positive momentum going into the offseason. It’s very important to be successful. I think everyone wants to be remembered for winning their last game.”
Coach Elliott is still undecided on who will start at center. He is choosing from between a pair of redshirt freshmen in Cody Waldrop and Clayton Stadnik. “I’m going to leave it right up until the game,” said Elliott.
“I want to go out with a win,” said junior wide receiver Bruce Ellington. “I’m going to do the same thing I’ve been doing – go out there and play hard, play together and try to get the ‘W’.” Ellington did not envision playing both sports when he left high school. “I came (to South Carolina) to play basketball. I just ended up playing football and it’s going good. I’m just happy being out here and making plays.” Ellington said he has not made any decisions about his future.
After practice, the team had an opportunity to go to Universal Studios.
The Gamecocks will spend Sunday morning with a Day for Kids Event at DisneyQuest before returning to the practice fields at 1 p.m.
The No. 8/8 Gamecocks (10-2, 6-2 SEC) and No. 19 Badgers (9-3, 6-2 Big Ten) will meet at Florida Citrus Bowl Stadium on Wednesday, January 1. Game time is set for 1 p.m. ET and the game will be televised nationally on ABC with Dave Pasch, Brian Griese and Tom Luginbill handling the broadcast.

Clem5on Coach Dabo Swinney says, out load, his team is more consistent than Ohio State in the last 5 years. WTF? Here is the comment.
“If you just judge us on the last five years I think that we’ve become one of the most consistent teams in the country. More consistent than Ohio State if you will. I mean, there’s a lot of teams out there that would love to have the accomplishments that this team has had in the last few years. As far as consistently being ranked and school things that we’ve done here, records that we’ve set here at Clemson and all that kind of stuff.”
This guy is clearly high (he may have smoked some of Sammy Watkins stash). In the last 5 years OSU is 54-11( 11-2, 13-1, 6-7, 12-0 and 12-1) and Clemson is 46-20 (9-5, 6-7, 10-4, 11-2, 10-2). This assclown needs to take a math class. Hell even South Carolina has been more consistent. USC is 48-17 (7-6, 9-5, 11-2, 11-2, 10,2), and ranked in the top 25 longer, in that same time frame. So I guess he is saying in his round about way that South Carolina is better than his Clem5on is. Thanks for yetanother laugh Dabo!
