COLUMBIA, S.C. – Ahead of Governor Nikki Haley’s official re-election campaign kickoff, Haley for Governor today released a new web video entitled, “The Movement Continues,” featuring testimonials from business leaders who have worked directly with the governor to create jobs and move South Carolina forward.

“With the fastest growing economy on the east coast, more than 37,000 jobs announced in 45 of 46 counties, and the state unemployment rate hitting a five year low, South Carolina is moving fast in the right direction,” said Haley for Governor spokesman Rob Godfrey. “As Governor Haley makes it official, and announces that she’s running for re-election, we are excited that so many across our state have personal stories to tell about the governor’s positive impact on South Carolina.”

Business leaders appearing in Haley for Governor’s video include:

Lewis Gossett, President and CEO of South Carolina Manufacturers Alliance

“Fundamentally, Nikki Haley has changed economic development in South Carolina. Let me give you a perfect example of Governor Haley’s leadership in action: Continental Tire in Sumter, that’s going to be a heck of a project over the next several years, it’s going to result in thousands of jobs in that community…and we don’t get it without her personal involvement and her effort,” said Gossett.

Mike Brenan, Chairman of the South Carolina Chamber of Commerce

“By any measure, Governor Haley has really set a new standard for economic development and job creation. The reason everyone is talking about South Carolina is because we’ve created the best environment to do business in the country. Period. End of discussion,” said Brenan.

Lou Kennedy, CEO of Nephron Pharmaceuticals, a manufacturer of inhalers that last year began construction of a state of the art manufacturing complex in Lexington County

“Not since Carroll Campbell in the eighties has this state seen a governor that’s so excited about job creation. We wanted to be a part of that expansion, and here we are,” said Kennedy.

Walter L. Davis, Co-Chief Executive Officer, Director and a founding member of CertusBank, N.A., a full service financial institution headquartered in Greenville

“When Governor Haley heard about our desire to be in South Carolina, she immediately picked up the phone and started the recruiting process, and it was actually what won us over,” said Davis.

Leighton Cubbage, Co-Founder of Serrus Capital Partners, located in Greenville

“Having done business around the nation, sometimes South Carolina’s image is not what we want it to be. With Governor Haley, it’s the best it’s ever been,” said Cubbage.

Hal Johnson, President and CEO of Upstate SC Alliance

“The executives I hear who have just gotten off the phone with Nikki say, ‘Wow! What an incredible experience to talk to a governor who really understands my business.’ When you’re winning in economic development, everybody in the state ends up winning, too,” said Johnson.

Marc Fetten, CEO of Bushy Park Industrial Complex, located in Goose Creek

“We are witnessing the rebirth of manufacturing in the United States right here in our back yard, and it’s because of Nikki Haley,” said Fetten.

Yawn.

All predictable comments from big business angling to keep a democrat out of office.

Interestingly, South Carolina has the weakest governor, and the most powerful legislature, in the nation.

Our schools, from K-12 plus higher education, are among the worst nationally, and our citizens are among the most most obese and sickly.

BUT employees are cheep cheep cheep!

And Nikki is more attractive than Vincent!

Two good reasons to keep her in office, right?

Wow! This governor sure understands how to line my pockets! Too bad half of her citizens are druggies and the other half incompetent. Thank goodness she told us that!

Puke! What crap.

Most of those folks (not all) have gotten industry handouts, givebacks, incentives and tax breaks that were all paid for by the taxpayer.

What hypocrisy for these people to take the credit for everything good that happens and no responsibility for the bad. This is all just mush and unfortunately this mush is what a busy hardworking public accepts.
