A day after South Carolina Republicans made some nice hay over a dubious endorsement by the S.C. Democratic Party’s likely 2014 standard bearer, they found themselves on the receiving end of a similar “burn.”
On Thursday, Republicans pounced on the fact that S.C. Senator Vincent Sheheen (D-Camden) – the Democrats’ presumed 2014 gubernatorial nominee – endorsed troubled S.C. Rep. Ted Vick (D-Chesterfield) last year in Vick’s aborted bid for South Carolina’s seventh congressional district.
Vick – once a contender to win this swing district – was busted earlier this week on his second drunk driving charge in the last year.
In response to Vick’s latest arrest, Republicans produced a video in which Sheheen’s glowing endorsement of Vick was dubbed over footage of the lawmaker’s arrest.
Not to be outdone, Democrats on Friday pointed reporters to a video they produced several months ago highlighting S.C. Gov. Nikki Haley’s 2012 endorsement of then-S.C. Rep. Thad Viers – who also had to drop out of the seventh congressional district race due to his legal problems.

Looks to us like the 2014 South Carolina gubernatorial race is already in full swing, people … although let’s be honest, as intriguing as the Haley versus Sheheen rematch could be, a Vick versus Viers race would be MUCH more entertaining.

I will be running the elections in Richland County again. We have a hired a token executive director who lives out of town and already has two other full time jobs. Therefore, any Democrats running in Richland County are assured of election and re-election. I will be holding seminars in the other strongly Democratic Counties on how to rig an election and get away with it in the next several months. As long as we keep Jean Toal in as Chief Justice, we can get away with it all. See ya Sunday, Darryl.
