SOUTH CAROLINA CANDIDATE CROPS HIS HEAD ONTO BODY OF MALE MODEL

If Republican Ryan Payne wins election to the S.C. House of Representatives this week, he’ll have a “body double” to thank for it.

The GOP nominee for S.C. House District 44 took political deception to an amusing new low recently when his campaign cropped his head onto the body of a male model from the Men’s Wearhouse dress apparel chain – and then posted the image on its website.

(Cue the “you’re going to love the way you look” jokes).

Take a look …

The photoshopped image of Payne appeared for an extended period of time on the banner of his campaign site – until its use was exposed by a Lowcountry, S.C. political blogger.

Shortly thereafter it was replaced by this image …

Yeah …

The sad thing about all of this is that Payne, 21, has built his candidacy around a pretty solid fiscal platform.  He’s also his high school’s valedictorian – meaning he really should have known better than to pull a stunt like this.

Will Payne’s photoshop gaffe impact his race against Democrat Mandy Powers Norell (yes, that Mandy Powers Norell)?

We’ll find out soon enough …

Man, this is just too funny. I can always count on FITS to break the monotony and provide humor with a good dose of the truth.

To be fair. Payne is currently confined to a wheelchair, and could not take a new suit photo for last minute promos. Caampaigns Photoshop images all of the time. Could the image have been made a little wider? Maybe. This was not an attempt at deception though.

Why is he in a wheelchair?

Also – does anyone here like pictures of girls in wheelchairs?

Payne fell while campaigning and broke his leg an ankle in 3 places. He had to have surgery a week and a half before the election.

If I’m doing the photo shop thing to one of my pictures I’m at least using Peter North.

Dammit, the least he could have done was use Ron Jeremy! This poor choice of a model to steal would explain why he got his ass handed to him by a Democrat in a seat that Mulvaney won TWICE!

Payne Defender November 7, 2012 at 8:02 am

You don’t even know what you are talking about. Mulvaney has never been in this seat. This seat has been Democratic for the last 14 years. This was Jimmy Neal’s seat.

Ryan lost because of Joseph Coy.

Ryan lost because of Joseph Coy? And by thinking we were stupid enough to believe his fat ass skull actually went with a model’s body. right, that’s why he lost. Stupidity.

Defender, are you blowing that porker? Just gotta wonder.

Mulvaney carried District 44 in this year’s Congressional race and two years ago. That was back when you were playing Zingo on Facebook. Like you’re doing now.

If Ryan lost because of Coy, then how come Norrell got 57% of the vote? Even if he’d gotten Coy’s support, he’d still have lost in a landslide.

Payne Defender November 7, 2012 at 11:02 am

It’s simple. Payne did not get endorsement money from the House Republican Caucus, because of Coy. He didn’t get the endorsement of Mick Mulvaney, because a handful of Coy supporters went whining to Eric Bedingfield and Al Simpson. They also put pressure on Talbert Black to back off on his support, although Talbert never withdrew his endorsement. Tom Davis endorsed early, and was supposed to secure Club for Growth support. He backed away some after the same tactics from Coy supporters (He also never removed his endorsement though). Randy Page wouldn’t enter the race.
The biggest thing, is that Coy cost Ryan party unity. A united Lancaster GOP could have overcome the Powers-Norrell absentee votes. Payne had to hold victory operations out of his home, because Sandy McGarry allowed Coy to set up shop in the Lanc GOP Victory Center.
The list goes on and on.
Ryan did a damn good job considering what he was up against. He raised $17,000, despite not having the party support he should have. That couldn’t compare to $50,000 though. Mandy dropped 4 mail pieces in the last 2 weeks alone, while Ryan could only afford one.

Will, while I appreciate the recognition and link, you need to update your records. I haven’t been living in the Lowcountry for sometime and am enjoying life in the Fort Mill area.

Hope those kids are doing well. Bring them by sometime. Should have the pool going in this spring and we’ve got a guest bedroom with an airplane on the ceiling with ceiling fan that boy of yours would probably get a kick out of.

Defender, excuses, excuses. Other Republicans were able to circle the wagons and prevail. It may make you feel better but everyone else knows what sad joke and creep your candidate was. When almost half the Republican vote went petition, it should tell you something. That is if you actually knew how to listen to people instead of spouting off at the mouth all the time like your porker boyfriend.

I bet he thinks your mouth is purty.

Defender–let me get this straight, Mick Mulvaney and other Repulicans let whinnying get in the way of an endorsement? I don’t think so, you need to rethink why they did not get behind you, if they will endorse a dem sheriff over the republican candidate they will endorse a GOP candidate over the petition candidate.you goofed that up all on his own. When Payne saw Coy was able to get enough signatures you started whining. And yep Norrell had a lot of money but from what I saw Payne did not use his wisely, those big last minute signs with the photoshopped pic was useless and paying poll workers to sit at polls is useless. Norrell barely had poll workers. She slam dunked it and would have beat Payne regardless. If the GOP thought he had a shot they would have got behind him, instead he publically asked for resignations and whined all the time about Coy , had he focused his efforts of Norrell instead if Coy he may have closed the gap some.Instead he went around acting like he made a new best friend. The fact is the GOP wanted a republican in not a libertarian. If I was to take a guess I would say he voted Gary Johndon like his boy Mike and Rob.I also saw they came out for Joe Thompson against a Repulican, talk about a hypocrite,,,Payne needs to man up and accept he did not have what it took to win and stop the blame game .

I do not think he does, personally instead of budding up up Norrell he should have tried to defeat her, he talked trash about her to Mulvaney and his staff and then turned around to her and acted as if they were best friends. He tried to play both sides and it failed now he blames Coy because he could not get the support..The entire GOP despises Norrell and he thought being her buddy would get him support or Demanding people to resign, he was trying to play games and in the end looked like he was still in
High school and throwing temper tantrums when things did not go his way,,,I think he had burnt a lot of bridges in the area.
