It’s happening. The departure of U.S. president Joe Biden from the 2024 is reportedly now a fait accompli. Events in our nation’s capital – heating up for weeks – are now unfolding at the speed of an overheated popcorn popper. So much is happening so fast it’s difficult to stay on top of all the developments.
Here at FITSNews, though, we’ve been on top of this from the very beginning … going all the way back to when Biden was “anointed” as the nominee here in our home state of South Carolina. Actually, the anointing took place well before that … when Biden upended the Democratic primary schedule to ensure the state that saved his bacon in 2020 went first.
Funny how the party fighting to “save democracy” keeps rigging it …

At any rate, today we participated in another conference call with a bipartisan group of Washington insiders —journalists, elected officials, party activists, and concerned citizens alike — and the insights they shared are once again worth relaying.
- Bye, Bye Biden: The deal has reportedly been struck. Multiple sources are saying Biden will announce his withdrawal as soon as this week … possibly as early as Saturday, but more likely Sunday evening. Under the deal, Biden will sing the praises of vice president Kamala Harris on his way out but will stop short of fully endorsing her as his successor.
- What Will Chicago Now Look Like? That’s the $64,000 question. The devil is in the details, they say, and there are many, many details needing to be ironed out. The convention rules are TBD, but a major point under discussion is whether super delegates would not barred from voting on the first ballot, thus making it a truly open convention.
- A Kamala Coronation? Don’t Count on it. Biden himself, and a significant number of his campaign inner circle, have strong doubts about her ability to beat Donald Trump. She’s first going to have to convince those power players for her candidacy to succeed.

- What Did Harris Know, and When Did She Know It? The first question Harris would have to answer as a presidential candidate would be, “if you knew Biden’s cognitive decline was so serious, why didn’t you say anything about it?” Would that charge hinder her at the outset, or could it be overcome?
- A New Democratic Ticket: Harris’ team is reportedly already vetting potential running mates. Topping her list are Kentucky governor Andy Beshear and Pennsylvania governor Josh Shapiro. Other frequently mentioned names include California governor Gavin Newsom, Michigan governor Gretchen Whitmer, and Illinois governor J.B. Pritzker. Reports indicate because of the unusual circumstances heading into the convention, Harris wants to present a full ticket to delegates.
- A Top-Two Unity ticket? There’s already talk that the top two vote-getters after the roll call should form the ticket. Supporters say that could unite the Democratic Party and possibly head off a nasty split.
- Wokes, Progressives, and Bernie Bros: So, just how does the left flank of the Democratic Party factor into this new partisan calculus? Will it feel emboldened and make a power play at the convention? Would that impact the selection of the ticket and/or secure policy promises in the next administration?
- A Bounce-less GOP Convention? Most presidential nominees traditionally see an uptick in the polling numbers in the immediate aftermath of the convention. It’s a benefit of having the national spotlight shining entirely on his party for a full week. But proving yet again that the traditional rules of thumb are out the window this cycle, will Donald Trump be denied a usual bunce? The spotlight now shifts to the many questions swirling around Biden’s replacement as nominee and what it will mean for Democratic chances in November. One school of thought even claims Trump got his bounce before the convention via Saturday’s assassination attempt.
That’s a wrap for his update. Bear in mind there are more moving parts now than ever, and the time to fit them all together is growing shorter by the minute …
This situation is beyond fluid, and what is being reported and discussed one hour may be outdated by the next. But that is where things reportedly stand as of this writing.
Bottom line? The soft coup to oust Biden from the ticket has gotten very hard indeed … and appears on the cusp of succeeding.

Over under on his dropping out by Sunday?
Wonder how the MAGA party will handle Trump being to person way too old to be POTUS (on top of being a rapist, fraud and convicted felon who’s own followers want to kill him) if Biden drops out?
That is literally the only thing MAGA has….”Look Biden acts old!” Once Biden is replaced, that one will be turned right back at Trump.
His followers are wearing faux ear bandages while getting amped up by a stoned-out-of-his-mind Hulk Hogan.
Speaking of Hulk, the irony isn’t lost on anyone outside the GOP that there were multiple people up there who have flagrantly used the N-word (hard R) multiple times in public.
Also props to Kimberly Guilfoyle on her successful transition from a lizardperson. Some people may laugh at her plastic surgeon, but I say he’s done the best with what he had to work with.
Thanks for the gross innuendos, bro.
It’s funny watching the Democrats circling the wagons for the 2020 Democratic Primary candidate who got exactly what… less than 1% of the primary votes? Their only hope is to bring up Big Mike, who wrote his college thesis on how he hates America, but how will that work out two black “women” ticket where the VP gets leapfrogged by someone who’s never held any office? Can’t run a Harris/Newsome ticket without losing California electoral votes, can’t pull Harris off the ticket without losing $200 million in donations. The Democrats know they’re fucked, my advice is to throw in the towel for 2024 and find someone to run against JD Vance in 2028. Republicans will take the WH, likely increase their hold in the House and there’s a strong chance they’ll also take control of the Senate. Democrats better hope nobody drops dead or steps down on the Supreme Court. This whole situation is hilarious.
