Police in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina are investigating an incident that took place in front of the now-notorious Solid Rock Church on Sunday when a member of the congregation doused protesters with a sprinkler.
Warrants for third degree assault have been sought against 67-year-old Robert W. Lochel of Murrells Inlet, S.C. for allegedly spraying five protesters with water. According to a Myrtle Beach, S.C. police report (.pdf), Lochel “admitted to his actions due to his wife’s frustrations.”

Protesters have been making regular appearances at Solid Rock following the heartbreaking death of pastor’s wife Mica Miller at North Carolina’s Lumber River State Park on the afternoon of April 27, 2024.
Mica’s estranged husband, John-Paul Miller, is the founder of Solid Rock Church. In the aftermath of her death, he has come under withering scrutiny as Mica’s friends and family members have blamed him for her demise – even though an investigation determined the cause to have been a self-inflicted gunshot.
Last Sunday morning (June 30, 2024) – as protesters outside the church chanted “Justice for Mica” and “Mica’s blood is on your hands” – a man emerged from a side door of the building, pulled a sprinkler out of the grass strip separating the protesters from the church and took aim at them – spraying at least five people with water.

Ironically, one of the protesters sprinkled during the “assault” was dressed like Jesus. John-Paul Miller also made an appearance during the incident – speaking with responding officers and protestors – personally turning on the sprinklers and returning into the building.
As a result of the altercation, Myrtle Beach police are seeking warrants against Lochel for third degree assault.

That wasn’t much of an assault… He was probably doing them a favor, it was in the high 80s in Dirty Myrtle.
I’m astounded that there are still parishioners willing to attend Sinking Sand, er, uhm Solid Rock Church.
Even if Mica had not killed herself, Miller is clearly unqualified to lead a church based on the facts we now have. Solid Rock has had a known, admitted pedophile on staff, Miller has a child out of wedlock, he is once divorced and was facing a second divorce for adultery. Apparently, it was well established that he had multiple extramarital affairs and he owns a bar.

Therefore an overseer must be above reproach, the husband of one wife, sober-minded, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, not a drunkard, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money. He must not be a recent convert, or he may become puffed up with conceit and fall into the condemnation of the devil.
