ANOTHER SHERIFF SEX SCANDAL … ALLEGED COVER-UP

Remember Ricky Chastain?  He’s the sheriff of Laurens County, S.C. – a guy who gained infamy in 2012 when he admitted to impregnating a co-worker and driving her to Charlotte, N.C. for an abortion (in his patrol car, no less).  Not only that, Chastain relied on county taxpayers to subsidize an extended “recovery period” for his lover.

And yes, he was reelected …

… and is still married.

Has Chastain learned from his errors?  Apparently not.

Sources in Laurens tell us Chastain is dealing with yet another sex scandal involving a “new mistress.”  County officials are reportedly well aware of his latest alleged indiscretions, but have decided to look the other way.

In fact, we’re told Chastain’s latest sex scandal is one of several local issues allegedly being kept under wraps by local leaders.  There are also brewing scandals at the county’s parks and recreation department and within its emergency management services division.

“New council members are being told ‘silence is golden,'” one source confirmed to us, referring to rampant “financial irregularities” in multiple departments.

Sad …

No stranger to police scandals, Laurens is located in the Upstate region of South Carolina just south of Greenville and Spartanburg Counties.  It is home to an estimated 65,000 citizens.

UPDATE: Oh dear … we’ve just received what is alleged to be the entirety of Sheriff Chastain’s text message interactions with the “new mistress.”  Stay tuned as we work to verify the information and consult with our attorneys regarding publication.

UPDATE II: Our first treatment of the information we received.
