STATUS QUO NOD A SURPRISE …
Well, well … the “Republican” establishment has some life in it yet.
With a better-than-expected third place finish in early-voting Iowa under his belt, U.S. Senator Marco Rubio of Florida picked up the endorsement of U.S. Senator Tim Scott of South Carolina this week.
Scott’s endorsement – a major tack to the political center for this “conservative” lawmaker – is somewhat surprising considering he was not one of the fourteen “Republican” U.S. Senators who voted for Rubio’s controversial immigration bill in 2013.
Of course Scott did join Rubio in voting for U.S. president Barack Obama‘s crony capitalist trade deal last year … so there are times when he has joined Rubio in caving to the special interests that run Washington, D.C.
We’d love to provide other points of divergence or confluence … but sadly Rubio has missed so many votes lately it’s tough to tell.
We do wonder, though: Does Scott’s endorsement of Rubio mean he now supports the massive energy tax hike Rubio embraced as Speaker of the Florida House of Representatives? The same “carbon tax” championed previously by liberal U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina.
Hmmm …
Does it mean he also endorses men’s high-heeled booties?
Or the disastrous mismanagement of one’s personal finances?
Or has a visceral hatred for individual liberty?
Obviously we’re very disappointed by Scott’s decision …
Last month, we challenged him to step up in Washington, D.C. and start taking more principled stands on behalf of individual taxpayers, their freedoms and the free market that sustains them.
“In case (Scott) hadn’t noticed there’s a broad, far-ranging and increasingly dangerous anti-American agenda at work in Washington, D.C. – one that desperately needs to be exposed. And rebuked. And fought tooth and nail,” we wrote.
Sadly, it appears as though Scott has decided to embrace the status quo via his presidential endorsement …

One thing I like about Rubio is that he supported the DREAM act! We need to give immigrants a legal path to citizenship! Glad to see Republicans being progressive on this issue!

A safe, middle of the road endorsement. He seems to be a person that tries to avoid controversy. At this point in his political career, a decision that won’t generate too much attention.
He still has to win in Nov. for the six year term. A good middle ground choice. I could support any of the three but still prefer Trump. There will be enough mud thrown in the next 2 1/2 weeks to bury a small city. Should be fun to watch.
