SOMETHING’S GOT TO GIVE …
|| By FITSNEWS || One day, something has to give in the metronomic love affair between “family values” S.C. comptroller general Richard Eckstrom and “Republican” activist/ Midlands, S.C. school teacher Kelly Payne.
Eventually one of their multiple wedding announcements will stick … or one of them will murder the other. Or (if we’re lucky) it will be a murder-suicide.
For now, though, Eckstrom and Payne – whose torrid affair cost the socially conservative Eckstrom his marriage – continue to bounce back-and-forth between being engaged and, well, “not.”
The latest status check?
Eckstrom and Payne are once again “engaged.”
Take a look …

Over the years Eckstrom and Payne’s star-crossed affair has produced courtroom battles, police reports, allegations of sexually transmitted diseases, wedding rings for sale on Craigslist as well as campaign finance abuse charges related to Eckstrom paying for Payne’s travel to the 2012 Republican National Convention.
Oh, and Eckstrom’s creepy texts and emails to Payne have become the stuff of S.C. political legend (and not in a good way).
Before the ink was dry on his divorce, Eckstrom and Payne announced their first engagement in February 2012 – although less than two months later the wedding was off. They’ve been engaged and re-engaged at least twice since then (prior to this month’s engagement announcement).
“Their wedding dates are about as firm as the Jell-O the aging Comptroller will soon be slurping down at the nursing home,” we wrote last year.
Meanwhile, it appears the apple doesn’t fall too far from the tree.
Eckstrom’s middle-aged son Brad Eckstrom received pretrial intervention last fall after criminal domestic violence (CDV) charges were filed against him for allegedly punching, kicking and grabbing his 29-year-old former fiancee Blair Pettrey by the hair, then dragging her across his mother’s home (where he lived at the time) . Pettrey was nine weeks pregnant with Brad Eckstrom’s child at the time of the alleged assault.
Eckstrom’s sweetheart deal was announced as “Republican” leaders in South Carolina vowed to take “action” on the issue of domestic violence …
Pettrey gave birth to a baby girl earlier this year, but rather than “man up” and take responsibility for his daughter the younger Eckstrom has chosen to disavow the baby girl (and, according to her mother, is refusing to pay child support).
Of course that won’t be a problem in South Carolina, right? (Ahem).
Richard Eckstrom’s response to his son’s issues? He accused this website’s founding editor Will Folks of being the child’s father (despite paternity tests to the contrary).
Oh well, at least none of this is effecting Eckstrom’s work, right?
UPDATE: Payne responds …
