GOVERNOR TO DISCUSS THE “NEW SOUTH”
|| By FITSNEWS || S.C. governor Nikki Haley will travel to Washington, D.C. early next month to give a major address at the National Press Club, according to The Washington Post.
The subject of her remarks? “Lessons of the New South.”
“The governor has always believed that when you have a story to tell, you tell it,” Haley’s longtime spokesman Rob Godfrey told the paper. “There’s a lot of good that’s come out of South Carolina over the last five years, and she’s looking forward to talking to the state and the country about it.”
Haley’s address will take place on September 2, according to the Post.
Haley’s conversion on the Confederate flag has landed her back on the national radar in a big way – with many speculating she could wind up as a GOP vice presidential pick.
Do we buy that?
The vetting issues which dogged Haley prior to the flag flap didn’t magically disappear just because she handled that drama well. Also the national press that’s so keen on lifting her up at the moment would rip her to shreds the moment she actually got nominated for anything of consequence.
And trust us, there’s plenty to rip …
