DESHAUN WATSON NAMED PRESEASON PLAYER OF THE YEAR

|| By FITSNEWS || While the University of South Carolina football program struggles to regain its footing, its arch-rival Clemson is basking in preseason glory.

Head coach Dabo Swinney‘s Tigers have been picked to win the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) football championship in 2015 – garnering an impressive 84 first-place votes from members of the media who assembled at Pinehurst resort for the league’s annual preseason gathering.

Florida State University – which has won the last three ACC titles (and the 2013 national championship) – finished second in the balloting with 41 votes.

In more good news for Tiger fans, sophomore quarterback Deshaun Watson – who helped end the school’s five-game skid against the Gamecocks (despite playing on a torn ACL) – was named the ACC’s preseason Player of the Year.

Watson received 69 votes to outpace the ACC’s 2014 Player of the Year, Pitt’s James Conner.

The Gainesville, Georgia native threw for 1,466 yards and fourteen touchdowns as a freshman – posting a passing efficiency mark of 188.6 and a 4-1 record as a starter.  He also ran for 200 yards and five scores – including two touchdowns in Clemson’s 35-17 win over South Carolina.

Clemson finished the 2014 season with a 10-3 record – its fourth consecutive season winning at least ten games. The Tigers are 26-6 against ACC opponents over that stretch.

Deshaun Watson could very well end up with a Heisman.

If John was still coaching at Clempson he could!!!

He’s too fragile to win the Heisman. He’s a great athlete but he won’t last the season.

Most Tigers fans wished Lattimore well through his injuries and Clemson is continually ranked at the top the most respectful fans in college football, unlike Sakerlina fans, who are hated throughout the SEC as being loud, cocky, rude and obnoxious. Thats a fact JACK

WHAT???? July 21, 2015 at 11:48 am

please show any information and proof on a national level to support your claim that “Clemson is continually ranked at the top the most respectful fans in college football” I am talking national, so not a tigernet post, article written by a former clemson grad and not what your mommy told you. Tiger fans are inbreed rednecks that break flags off the cars of the opposing teams driving by, spit on their cars, and throw drinks on them. Hell like it keeps getting posted you have a famous building there named for a white supremacist that murdered, so the guy that keeps calling it KKKlemson (funny by the way), is right and we know how respectful the KKK is, so how respectful can the Tigers really be?

TheCHICKENCurseLives July 21, 2015 at 1:57 pm

That is beyond reprehensible to compare Clemson to the Klan. Clemson has disavowed Ben Tillman, and is only being stopped by the current SC Speaker of House from renaming Tillman Hall to Main Hall, which it once was. Football aside, comparing a school that had integration with dignity with Harvey Gantt vs the riot at South Carolina and burning black students in effigy is not a joke and like I said beyond reprehensible. Clemson as a university and student body has ever been affiliated with the Klan in anyway, shame on you.

WHAT???? July 21, 2015 at 3:16 pm

KKKlemosn has not disavowed Tillman the building is still there and named for him. As long as they have that building they will be just as bad as the KKK. Tillman and the KKK go hand in hand. You do know also that Grant only got in because he sued the school after they kept denying him entry. Don’t try to hide the truth by a bullshit claim that your”school that had integration with dignity with Harvey Gantt” . Another KKKlemosn lie right there.

WHAT??? July 21, 2015 at 3:17 pm

Gantt not Grant

Squishy123 July 21, 2015 at 12:30 pm

Well after years of disappointment and getting kicked around, it tends to wear on you after a while and all you have is to be loud, cocky, rude, and obnoxious.

Alabama mouth, Vanderbilt trophy case.

Nölff July 21, 2015 at 3:51 pm

I did. He’s got his head on straight.

southmauldin July 21, 2015 at 10:16 am

Please show me where I wished harm on him, you ignorant redneck and typical Clemson fan. I like him and I liked Vic Beasley, and I hated to see him hurt twice last year. But he is fragile, and if he were in the SEC he wouldn’t last the season because of the speed and strength of the teams and because of his penchant to go up the middle and tough it out. Not that my Gamecocks are a prime example of a typical defense in the SEC because our DEs last your couldn’t have started in the ACC, and Clemson proved that.

Spurturd July 21, 2015 at 10:48 am

Saying “He’s too fragile to win the Heisman” implies he will be injured at some point during the season, which I am sure all GameChicken fans would like, but remember last year he whooped y’all on one leg. Cant wait to see what he does on two.

And Oh Lordy here we go again with that $EC Speed talk again, funny because Sakerlina has NONE of that. With the exception of the Pharaoh Cooper, who can’t do it all for you this season.

Listen quit worrying about how “fragile” you think Deshaun Watson is and start worrying about the fact that you don’t even have named starting QB yet…

Squishy123 July 21, 2015 at 12:28 pm

So you’re saying it’s not going to be a pretty season for any of the USCe quarterback hopefuls???

Sorry but KKKlemson wont finish better than 3rd in the ACC. FSU will beat them and so will GT as usual then one other team in the conference will pull an upset (either Louisville or Miami if not both). Notre Dame will beat the too but it wont count towards the ACC standings.

…you mention “ball sacs”???? What does that say for you?
With your own prediction of USC winning 5 games in the SEC (out of 8) they more than likely still go 9-3 over all (5-3 in the conference) and would finish ahead of not only Kentucky as you claim, but Clemson too idiot. It was a 1 year fluke last year and the revamped attack on Watson will be more than he can handle this year. Another dumbass Tater

Reply
Ol Ball Sack July 21, 2015 at 10:51 am

With Whammy Ward still coaching your defense, you better get ready to see an impressive lack of tackling ability again coot. Last year was not a 1 year fluke as you assert, it is your sacred coach on the decline. The chicken curse is alive and well, get ready cause 5 wins and no bowl game is going to become the Sakerlina standard of excellence again.

Reply
why are you so into ball sacks July 21, 2015 at 10:56 am

“Whammy” Ward is not calling the shots on Defense. Jon Hoke is. Ward has a position only because he can recruit. And your Taters with out Chad Morris are going to learn real quick how bad Dabo is. Carolina will win 9 and beat the taters!!!

Ol Ball Sack July 21, 2015 at 10:57 am

You won’t win 9 games in the next two seasons, and I think we did just fine against Oklahoma without Chad Morris.

love your sacks huh? July 21, 2015 at 11:00 am

playing in 1 bowl game against a OU team embarrassed to be there and not caring with Chads offensive plans still in tact is not the same as playing a whole year with out him. KKKlemson loses 4 games this year easily including USC and Carolina will win more games than Clemson does. We could do this all day but I will drop the mic and walk away now!!!!!!

TheCHICKENCurseLIVES July 21, 2015 at 11:06 am

You should drop the mic bubba, because your blessed game chickens don’t even have a named starting QB yet…. and pre-season SEC second string Pharoh Cooper will not be able to do everything for y’all this season. 5 games tops for the Chickens. Y’all gonna still hang that jumbo banner of Old Ball Sack down the side of Billy Brice or is that gone like your billboards from last season, “We have the Head Ball Coach, and You Don’t” I guess those are gone now too. Have fun returning to mediocrity and the getting whooped by everyone.

“WAIT ‘TIL NEXT YEAR!!!!”

It is Clemson's best quote July 21, 2015 at 3:12 pm

that is exactly what Clemson has been saying for years. “We have Tajh” , “we lost. Wait till next year”. “we have Stoudt”, “oops he sucked wait till next year” Watson will not finish the season so what will you cry this year when you don’t win it? 8-4 at best and when Watson is out for the year one of those 4 will be a loss to USC

The Colonel July 21, 2015 at 9:55 am

Was at a cancer fundraising soiree with Tajh Boyd and Steve Taneyhill last night (the Justin Bethel & Patrick Davis Pro-Am Fore the Cure Golf Tournament).

My impression of Tajh has come up considerably, he was the consummate gentleman taking time to speak with anyone and acting like a regular guy rather than a “football hero”. Taneyhill was asked by a none to bright friend of mine if he “had something to do with the Carolina program” and he grinned and said “…yeah, I played there a few years ago…”.

Class acts both of them.

Bubba went to Clemson on a football scholarship. He was a good running back, but a poor student.

At graduation day, Bubba didn’t have enough credits. But he was a great football star and the students held a rally and demanded the dean give him a diploma anyway. They were so insistent that the dean agreed if Bubba could answer one question correctly he would give him a diploma.

The one question test was held in the auditorium and the students packed the place. It was standing room only.

The dean was on the stage and told Bubba to come up. The dean had the diploma in his hand and said, “Bubba, if you can answer this question correctly I’ll give you your diploma.” Bubba said he was ready and the dean asked him the question. “Bubba,” he said, “How much is three times seven?”

Bubba looked up at the ceiling and then down at his shoes, just pondering the question. The students began chanting, “Graduate him anyway! Graduate him anyway!”

Then Bubba held up his hand and the auditorium became silent. Bubba said, “I think I know the answer. Three times seven is twenty-one.”

A hush fell over the auditorium…and then the Clemson students began another chant. “Give him another chance! Give him another chance!”

0-46? since USC joined the SEC, Clemson has only won one more title than they have in the same time frame dumbass. Before that USC wasn’t even in a conference to win one since 1972. you are a fucking idiot

No, I just don’t give a fuck enough to look up when USCe moved to the SEC. Okay USCe isn’t 0-46, they’re 0-43.

Well Clemson must suck too then. But then there is that whole national championship thing too. USCe players remember that night, they were at home sitting watching it on their B&W 19″ televisions.
