|| By FITSNEWS || Can we just forget the 2014 University of South Carolina football season ever happened? Seriously … it started with a nightmare and ended with the Gamecocks’ first loss to Clemson since 2008 (a.k.a. another nightmare).
Oh wait … head coach Steve Spurrier‘s tenth season in Columbia, S.C. didn’t end with the loss to Clemson. We forgot all about the 2014 Duck Commander Independence Bowl (which South Carolina won)!
It’s all better now … right? Right?
Anyway, if you’d like to pay homage to the 2014 football squad they’ll be appearing at halftime of South Carolina’s January 24, 2015 men’s basketball game against Kentucky. And yes, they’ll be bringing along that, um, “prestigious” Duck Commander bowl trophy.
One reason you should (still) consider making the trip?
Well, despite the 2014 implosion South Carolina’s graduating seniors are departing campus with forty wins under their belt (second-best in school history) – including four consecutive bowl victories. Which is saying something.
In fact since the 2011 season the Gamecocks have the 11th best record in the country – not bad considering they dropped six games last year!
That’s something worth celebrating if you ask us … irrespective of the current trajectory of the program (which we sincerely hope will be “reorienting” really soon).
