PERPETUAL MINORITY PARTY OFFERS SCANT POLICY ALTERNATIVES TO GOP

|| By FITSNEWS || South Carolina Democrats want to legalize gambling to pay for roads, throw more money at the state’s failed government-run school system, legalize marijuana for medicinal purposes, establish minimum wage and equal pay laws and enact comprehensive ethics reform.

At least that’s according to their stated agenda for the 2015-16 legislative session – which commences in Columbia, S.C. on January 13.

Now … does anyone care what Democrats think?  Of course not.  They’re irrelevant in South Carolina … until they get elected as “Republicans,” anyway.

Take the most powerful man in state government for example …

Anyway, what do we think of the Democratic agenda?  Obviously we support the legalization of gambling and the decriminalization of marijuana (and other drugs) – but we don’t believe revenue from these endeavors should go into our wasteful highway system.

There’s plenty of money for roads and bridges in South Carolina … our leaders are just pissing it away.

(For more on the state’s infrastructure scam, CLICK HERE).

We feel the same way when it comes to proposals that would pump more money into our failed government-run “education” system: We’ve been trying that approach for decades and guess what … it doesn’t work.

Market-based reforms are what our state needs.

As for a minimum wage law, we oppose that too … and you can find our thoughts on gender pay HERE.

We will be interested to see what Democrats come up with on ethics reform, though … especially as they have chosen newly elected S.C. Rep. Mary Tinkler to carry the banner on this issue.

“Fairness” is the meaningless Leftist battle that subjectively can define literally any topic they wish.

It has as much substance & meaning as “Limited gov’t” does to the Right.

I would be in complete support of legalizing gambling on border counties (get all that money from NC and GA) and horry county (get all that money from yankies), then any indian reservations. I would oppose gambling in beaufort or charleston though

The national democrat party and committee has written off S.C. It’s basically unwinnable and they consider it a waste of precious money and resources that are better spent in purple states.
To make matters worse, the idea that you could let the likes of Alvin Greene slip through the net (not that anyone was going to beat DeMint anyway) was a further demonstration that the state party is disarray and not worthy of assistance from the national guys.
No matter how bad the quality of life in this state is or how corrupt our politicians are….people just love voting for the GOP time and again…like lambs being led to the slaughter.

Your hillbillies see a liberal through a one-way mirror, and see that the liberal yells in pain when the hillbilly hurts himself… soon, the hillbilly is cutting off his own limbs and putting his own eyes out.

The highway dept should have a maintenance fund. If we have more traffic on the roads than before, then the roads maintenance fund basis would increase from more auto taxes, property taxes and sales taxes. So someone please tell me why we need to raise tax percentages for road maintenance.

One of the Dims is trying to run through a “delapidated properties ” bill. I would guess it would be subjective and bring on the “paint Police” type of thinking. Your dilapidated property could be my shed. Allowing the real estate developers to determine who is robbed of their property and who is not. A really bad law, but in SC it could easily pass.
