HOW “FIRST IN THE SOUTH” REPUBLICANS ROLL!
|| By FITSNEWS || As the 2016 presidential circus begins its descent on the banana republic of South Carolina, the “Republican” political establishment in the Palmetto State is gearing up for yet another session of taxpayer-funded adult day care (a.k.a. the convening of the 121st S.C. General Assembly).
Among the issues state lawmakers are planning to address? Domestic violence … which we suppose makes sense when you consider men kill women at a faster clip here than they do in any other state (save Alaska).
But is the SCGOP’s war on those warring on women really all it’s cracked up to be?
The most interesting angle involves Brad Eckstrom – the son of S.C. Comptroller General Richard Eckstrom.
The younger Eckstrom, 38, is accused of punching, kicking and grabbing his 29-year-old former fiancee Blair Pettrey by the hair – and then dragging her across his mother’s home during the October 10 incident.
That’s right … Eckstrom was living with his mother at the time.
Pettrey – who suffered multiple bruises – was nine weeks pregnant with the couple’s child at the time of the alleged assault.
(Oh, before you start thinking to yourself “this should really be a reality TV show,” stop … we’ve already got one of those).
Will Eckstrom be convicted of CDV? Of course not. In fact as soon as his daddy bailed him out of jail, the state’s favor factory sprung into action. And we predicted, Eckstrom is receiving pretrial intervention in the case – meaning the domestic violence charge against him will be dropped (and expunged from his record).
Must be nice … right?
In an odd wrinkle to the story, Richard Eckstrom’s on-again, off-again fiancée – Kelly Payne – has launched an online fundraising effort in support of Pettrey.
“After being a single mother for 15 years I was to be remarried in December,” Payne wrote in her online solicitation. “I was in a highly toxic relationship with a man 22 years older than me. He called off our marriage this time and the last time, a few weeks before our wedding.”
Yes. Like we said …
“I know of a young lady who is expecting in June,” Payne continued. “Her former fiancé is not stepping up to the plate and I don’t expect he will after their baby is born. She is strongly considering giving up their child for adoption. I want to help her financially.”
To that noble end, Payne is auctioning off the size six lace and satin dress she was planning to wear (as Eckstrom’s wife) to S.C. Gov. Nikki Haley‘s 2015 inaugural ball.

So to recap: The woman who was going to marry South Carolina’s comptroller general is selling the dress she planned to wear to the GOP’s inaugural ball in an effort to raise money for the woman his son allegedly battered.
Incidentally, Payne is a former “Republican” candidate for S.C. superintendent of education – receiving more than 65,000 votes when she ran in the 2010 GOP primary.
