“LET’S SAY NO TO NEW TAXES”

Hi,

Many local governments and special interest groups across our state have decided that now is the time to raise your taxes. I understand their arguments because I also want better roads, education, drainage, and infrastructure. However, as your State Treasurer, I have seen how all levels of government “manage and protect” your money, and the current standards are simply unacceptable.

I probably don’t live in your county, so I must respect your right to tax yourselves. However, we must have fundamental change in how our government operates. Implementing true fiscal responsibility and accountability are the first steps government can take to earn our trust.

Since the government and special interests want our money now, the time we should bargain for a “better deal” is now. Let’s say NO to new taxes and YES to meaningful transparency and accountability. Let’s say NO to back room deals with special interest and YES to high-ranking government officials being held responsible for protecting our money and delivering a quality product.

I’m going to vote NO on new taxes at the polls on Tuesday, and I encourage you to do the same. Let’s give the government and special interests a rain check for a vote on new money until the proper measures are in place to protect our money and deliver what is promised by special interests.

Be well,

Curtis

Curtis Loftis
Treasurer, State of South Carolina

Lovely drunk photo of Loftis. I love how he says we need to “say no to back room deals” and “yes to high-ranking government officials being held responsible for protecting our money.” Isn’t he the same “high-ranking official” that made a back room deal that jeopardized SC state retirees’ money in a lawsuit that yielded a $5 million windfall for his frat buddy?

Yep, that’s the the guy. When it came time to practice what he preaches, he did just the opposite. One more thing, when will he ever stop talking in generalities and say something specific. Just exactly what would he do differently, specifically.

There is nothing like liberal democrats and insiders to tell half a story, whack of course is a lie.

I wondered how long the opposition, likely paid for by Ryberg and other scumbuckets, would pop up on here. They hate Curtis because he stands in the way of their raiding the retirement funds that are supposed to support municipal, county, and state, retirees, when they finally reach retirement.

These guys are just mad at Loftis because Reynolds Williams was found by the State Ethics Commission to have the “created an appearance of impropriety” …Williams was raking in retiree cash for his law firm. They will never forgive Loftis for exposing him.

Can you imagine how mad the insiders are when Reynolds, a lawyer and Chairman of the Commission, got busted for making money off the retirees?

Transparency and accountability is nice, but what Loftis neglects to mention is that a lot of forces are at work to keep that from ever happening. If we were to wait for maximum transparency and accountability to be attained before even considering raising taxes, you’d see a lot of things go to shit. Corruption and incompetence are eternal, while roads, bridges, and schools are not.

Oh how the insiders hate Loftis. That is why I voted for him. We need more like Loftis.

Loftis is the only reformer in state wide office. People love him, good old boys raking in the cash hate him. I hope he looks at fraud at DEW next. The place is awash with it.

I voted for Loftis and against the tax hikes. We can never get enough money for the school mafia. They want to build and build and build. We don’t need new buildings, we need superior teachers making a better salary!

Reply
Pat November 4, 2014 at 12:22 pm

I agree.
We should be focused on teachers, not buildings. I went to school in a building that was 120 years old but the teachers were terrific! I would not change one teacher for a fancy bathroom or a new desk!

Reply
Allen November 4, 2014 at 12:24 pm

But are there quality teachers out there? Does salary matter?

Reply
truthmonger November 4, 2014 at 4:03 pm

In a word, YES to both questions. It’s awfully hard to remain in a profession you love if you struggle to get ahead and pay bills. There’s a reason turnover in teaching is becoming as high as in law enforcement…. pay and benefits at the “trench” level is getting worse every year.

I would love to have Loftis and Trey Gowdy, sitting on a committee together in DC looking at those Obama big shots . Can you imagine what those two would do to Obama’s people??

I left teaching for a marketing position because I just could not make enough money. An extra $10,000 to teachers, not administrators, would change education in short order.

I can’t imagine why the schools choose to pay so much for buildings. All this customization, non-standard formats, special purpose room, etc., are just too expensive. Surely there is a way for the Dept of Ed to lead the way and develop a series of plans that can be used over and over, thereby lowering the cost.

We don’t need these palaces, we need clever and affordable.

Thats just my two cents.

Government has grown too large. This democrat feels it every time I deal with them. They have their fingers in too much and need to concentrate in the most important things. They are spread too thin.

lol, he has ZERO shot at governor in 2018. Ditz Nikki is bad enough, Loftis would be a disaster even compared to her.

Wow, it was probably over a week or two since Fits had an advertisement posing as a story for Tea Party Dope Loftis.

Reply
BK November 4, 2014 at 10:52 pm

That’s my point, completely. I exposed Fits for this in the past. It’s obvious Loftis pays for ad placement on this site. What scares me is the number of people (who I suggest are duplicate, faked monikers for the same person) who buy into this shilling of an empty suit. The dems didn’t oppose Loftis. That should say something. They obviously have dirt of Loftis in hopes that he runs for Gov in 2018. When I’ve dug into this guy, I’ve found him not only dirty, but inept at his job. This guy epitomizes corruption and incompetence. Yet, as long as his checks clear, Fits will be glad to support him. And the lemmings will follow in lock-step.

The Ethics Commission found Reynolds Williams guilty of creating an appearance of a conflict of interest. Williams was raking in hundreds of thousands dollars of retiree money, and the insiders blame Loftis for turning him in, so they post this crap constantly.

Is it Loftis’ fault that Reynolds Williams made a fortune off the retirement fund? Is it his fault that Reynolds law partners made money off the pensioners?

Dont blame Loftis, you Investment commission insiders, blame Reynolds.

Reply
BK November 5, 2014 at 11:21 am

I don’t know who Reynolds or Williams are. But I can tell you the support Loftis gets on this site is paid for!

JJ November 5, 2014 at 12:38 pm

Perhaps you should post a copy of the check. It would be in the Treasurer’s campaign decelerations.

Chris November 5, 2014 at 7:53 am

Oh, how east it is for you to lie anonymously on the internet. If you have something on my friend Curtis, please call SLED, the AG’s office or the Ethics Commission. Call Curt and I am sure he will give you the phone number.

Only pissy little liars post crap anonymously on blogs. Your father must be so proud.
