By FITSNEWS || GOP S.C. Rep. Kirkman Finlay held a fish fry over the weekend for his Democratic supporters … an event which prompted an interesting response from his Democratic rival, liberal trial lawyer Joe McCulloch.

Apparently McCulloch didn’t like the notion of Finlay earning support from “his” constituency, so a variety of efforts were undertaken to disrupt the proceedings.

One trick?  Having a supporter call the Columbia, S.C. police department to complain about the “noise” the event was generating.

“(The) fish fry started at 5:00 p.m., cops showed up three minutes later,” one witness told FITS.

“(The police) stated a neighbor called because of the music,” a Finlay volunteer explained. “I told (the officer) it’s just politics and showed him our permits and paperwork. He laughed and told us to enjoy ourselves.”

Another tactic?  Sending McCulloch supporters to the event wearing their campaign T-shirts.  Well guess what … Finlay fed them, too.

“They came to spy but decided to stay and eat with Team Finlay,” Finlay’s volunteer told us.  “McCulloch must not feed his supporters.”

Numerous Democrats have come out for Finlay thanks to his prior community outreach efforts.

Perhaps McCulloch should undertake some similar efforts rather than focusing his energy on such childish games?

Finlay may have given them food, but McColloch bought them t-shirts.

What if they’re homeless people? Free shirt from one dumbass in a suit, free food from another dumbass in a suit. Win-win I’d say.

He’d rather gov’t take money from everyone else to feed them.

I think pro-bono representation of the NAACP equates to “similar effort” times 100, and in a much less offensive manner.

I hope you are kidding.

“Uhh, boss, this was all strategy. You see, if we eat his fish, he has less fish to feed the voters with, so, we, uhh, ate as much fish as we could to help you, man.”

Since I only work a day or two a month in Cola I’m not too familiar with Findley or his campaign, but it sounds like they handled that nitwittery pretty well, I’d say.

Finlay is top notch. A statesman more than a politician. What a Republican should be. We need more like him.

Kirkman actually does good things for the disenfranchised, even if they insist on voting for yet another entitlement jockey. When is the black community going to wake up and smell the shuck and jive coffee? People like McCulloch only care about the black vote to put him in a seat, that’s where the compassion stops with people like him. Finlay doesn’t have to give fully stocked bookbags away, he does it out of kindness. We need more people like him representing this area.

I’m pissed just because he sold off Mucho Margarita and now there’s not a Mexican restaurant in Columbia that doesn’t suck.

So what ruined the experience for you?

What makes for “West Columbia” type people?

Well, one nice thing was patronizing a business in a town without a crooked black mayor. The food was pretty bad.
