FEAR NOT, PALMETTO STATE CITIZENS …
By FITSNEWS || Because the Ebola virus is all over the news (and according to some people, soon to be all over the country), South Carolina politicians are tripping over themselves to appear as though they are doing something about the problem.
Take S.C. Senate “majority” leader Harvey Peeler – who has convened a special meeting of the Senate’s medical affairs committed to “address concerns about Ebola and relay any questions the public might have.”
“The purpose of this meeting is to determine if South Carolina is prepared to combat this disease and if our hospitals can manage it,” a release from Peeler’s committee states.
Um, actually the purpose of this meeting is to get Peeler’s name and face in the news, which … wait a minute … damn it. We just ran his name and picture as part of this news story, didn’t we?
Well-played, Senator Peeler. Well-played …
Anyway, appearing at Peeler’s “Ebolapalooza” will be S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control (SCDHEC) director Catherine Templeton and also Thornton Kirby, president and CEO of the S.C. Hospitals Association.
The hearing will take place at 2:30 p.m. EDT on Thursday, October 9.
