Greenville, S.C. – Independent Republican Tom Ervin releases the following statement after the Associated Press reported that South Carolina’s unemployment rate increased for the second consecutive month to 6.4 percent.

It’s disheartening to see a continued rise in unemployment in South Carolina.  This trend is consistent with what I’m hearing as I travel the state — people are desperately searching for work to provide for their families.

While Gov. Haley’s view from her mansion might be rosy, one in five South Carolinians are living in poverty.  That’s simply unacceptable.

It’s one thing to talk about jobs, it’s another to actually create them.  My plan focuses on improving the economy for all South Carolinians, not a handpicked few.

It starts with fixing our crumbling roads and bridges, providing our children with a world-class education, capping college tuition, offering a living wage and eliminating the income tax.

It isn’t Haley’s fault you people aren’t running for governor and getting your kids a sweet job at the State House’s gift shop.

But, you considered your butt buddy Andre (the immature lead footed juvenile) real?
Tell us all a great deal about your opinions and ability to pick winners! LOL
Seems I remember you posting very negative comments on Haley, during primary when you were supporting Andre also!
Ervin is head and shoulders above Haley!
Rogue you are not, you are one of the KoolAid drinking, lever pullers!
Therefore, you are part of the problem.

Andre’ would still be my choice for gov. if he were running. He is not. Nikki was my last choice in 2010. It isn’t that she is that much improved. It is that the rest of the choices are so bad. I will be supporting Nikki this time hoping for better next time.

WOW, I support you !!! Andre is honest, even though he has a lead foot.

Andre’ is honest as the day is long. The “lead foot” that the naysayers love to bring out indicates a risk taker, entrepreneurial personality that will jump into a business venture and make it go. He got his start in high school selling nick nacks and such. Put himself and his sister through college and went on to other ventures. He has one of the strongest work ethics I have ever seen. He is just the opposite of most politicians. I guess that is why they hate him so. He actually dose stuff. rather than talk it to death.,

No.Haley’s ‘rosy’ view?
Anybody able to post the net worth of King Ervin and Queen Williams? My guess is their view is a hellava lot more ‘rosy’ than 99% of South Carolinians?

SOB has the nerve to bitch about those on unemployment yet proposed giving FREE health insurance via Medicaid expansion to thousands and bankrupt the state.

Tom needs to go feed, clothe and house the homeless living under that bridge in Greenville, his own community, before attacking those doing the real work in the trenches.Hell film another ad using the greiving and hopeless for apparent political gain. Worked for him last time. :-)

Too late. Homeless no longer under bridge. File this one under “Urban Blight Removal”

Greenville’s homeless camp Tent City shut down
http://www.foxcarolina.com/story/26553520/greenvilles-homeless-camp-tent-city-shutdown

“GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) – Dozens of tents and other enclosures once dotted the land underneath the Pete Hollis Bridge, providing shelter and a home for many of Greenville’s homeless, but that is no longer the case.

Greenville County took over the land known as Tent City on Tuesday, with many of the residents already gone, finding a new place to lay their heads at night.”

You had better look at the most recent polls Sandi
You can continue your pathetic attempts at spin. The truth shows Ervin polling at near 20-22% when he is included in the questions among likely voters!
I see why you Haley and Sheheen people are apoplectic and attack Ervin with the lies and spin!
From the polls I’m familiar with the traction is with Ervin and on election night you will be suicidal.

LMAO.I got him at 7%-9% and only because he took votes from Sheheen for announcing he stands with the Lesbian Gay Bi-Sexual Transgender (LGBT) and state sanctioned gay marriage.

20%? Won’t happen however IF it did the votes are coming from Sheheen?

Suicidal? Na. I will be laughing and feeling sorry for a lonely old man, that quit two political parties apparently because he had become unelectable in both for a political office. :-)

More spin and BS on your part.
A well known pollster and consultant shared his polls with me and it is exactly what Polling High claims.
What fictional polls are you quoting?

Mmmmm … Often the well to do candidate is the most expensive to bribe. Being well off, it may be that Ervin can’t be …

There are more g’ment employees working on homeless cases than there are homeless … that’s the way it is in ALL of the “blue” states, anyway (no kidding). It would be worthy of any good investigative reporter to take the head count in SC.

This guy may not be riding a horse named Silver, but he’s the nearest thing SC has seen offering for governor in a very – long – time.

Doing that good ? WOW, maybe if he spent a little more money —-just thinking. LOL That is about the right number that should be supporting him.

Sounds like He should be the champion for a whooping big tax cut.

Every g’ment job kills three private sector jobs. Clearing out that state Capitol compost heap should be governor job #1.

Deo Vindice SC September 20, 2014 at 5:15 pm

You right, just don’t clean out the one’s that know their jobs and replace them with campaign money slugs.

FastEddy23 September 23, 2014 at 12:32 pm

Baby out with the bathwater?

Too many g’ment agencies should be cleared out entirely … along with the horses they rode in on.

When g’ment is assigned a job, whether foolhardy or not, in almost every case the new or recycled agency immediately puts longevity and self/job preservation as first priority, the actual task becomes secondary.

The Soviets tried to curb these continuous and ongoing central planning hose-ups with “five year plans”, the obvious outcome being part of all of the “tasks” were never fully completed, requiring extensions or additional “fiver year plans” and often even more g’ment employees added to the tasks.

Now, the “progressive” g’ment bureaucratic methodology follows those same failed scenario in this country (and elsewhere) … g’ment expanding without end and new tasks are added, old tasks never quite being completed. …

A completely clean sweep is needed … those who “can do” will always find another agency, task or function because they can “can do”. Those who can’t will join the vast welfare/unemployment/food stamp lines, please.
