Obama Wins “Lie Of The Year”

We already knew he was the biggest loser … now he’s the biggest liar as well.

U.S. President Barack Obama has won Politifact‘s “Lie of the Year” for the whopper he told about individual Americans’ health care plans.

Missed that one? Here you go …

“It was a catchy political pitch and a chance to calm nerves about his dramatic and complicated plan to bring historic change to America’s health insurance system,” writes Angie Drobnic Holan for Politifact. “But the promise was impossible to keep. So this fall, as cancellation letters were going out to approximately 4 million Americans, the public realized Obama’s breezy assurances were wrong.”

Of course Obama knew his “if you like your health care plan, you can keep it” promise was bunk years ago.

According to NBC News, as far back as July 2010 “the administration knew that more than 40 to 67 percent of those in the individual market would not be able to keep their plans, even if they liked them.”

Yet Obama continued to parrot his promise through 2012. And the mainstream media refused to call him out on it …

Obviously Obama is primarily to blame for this debacle – but some of the onus has to fall on a supplicant national press corps, doesn’t it?

We think so …

Politicians will lie, cheat and steal at every opportunity unless they are exposed and held accountable by the media for their actions.
