We’ve busted our butts making the new FITS “the bomb dot com” no matter what internet browser you use … and will continue to do so.

But we would like to commend one web browser in particular to your attention: Google Chrome.

First of all for those of you using multiple Apple devices (iPads, Macbooks, iPhones, etc.) Chrome links them together – tracking all of the tabs you have open on all of your devices. It also works seamlessly with your Gmail account and social media platforms.

Our founding editor switched from Mozilla Firefox to Chrome last May and has never looked back … Chrome is superior in every way.

But there’s another reason to switch. Mozilla sucks, people. No, not the browser – the foundation that runs it.

Mozilla Foundation is currently working with far left ivory tower elites at Stanford University to manipulate its browser’s advertiser settings in a manner that will hurt small businesses and mom-and-pop websites. And while the foundation claims its modus operandi is expanded privacy, the truth of the matter is its for-profit wing is looking to derive its own advertising benefit from this shift.

As an up-and-coming new media outlet battling the big government and crony capitalist interests running this country into the ground, we find Mozilla’s efforts appalling.

So ditch Firefox. And use Chrome.

You’ll not only get a better browser out of the deal, you’ll be helping small businesses and websites like this one.

Are you talking about disabling tracking cookies by default? I though this website was privacy advocates?

FYI for those that don’t know, a tracking cookie is a bit of code that advertisers can embed in ads that can track what websites you visit. It allows for targeted advertisement which explains why I got a Home Depot ad currently displaying grass seed. There was a gag on the HD website that if you typed ‘Les Miles’ in their search it returns grass products.

TBG gets really gross nail fungus ads. Probably not a good thing, huh?

It tried it and it returned LSU merchandise.

Plus Chrome has better ad blocking and ant-tracking extensions and capabilities than Firefox and IE.

Whatever you did, I can’t use it on my mobile anymore. Disqust comments are all over the page, Tags are midstream of where they should be. Links are not sync’d to the text. I can’t do squat on this website at home. It’s an android phone.

Frank- please send me a screenshot and your phone info as in os version etc

Scrolling on my iPhone 4 had already been painfully slow before the new iOS came out, now it is cripplingly slow. Like, wait five seconds and scroll a few lines slow, and that’s when it decides to actually scroll instead of thinking I wanted to highlight or click something instead. This is with both the Mercury and Safari browsers. I could try Chrome I suppose.

I think part of the problem is with Disqus, as it gets worse with more and more comments on the page.

Yeah. FITS on iPhone is useless.

i’d love to improve it but without a list of issues and some screenshots i have nothing to judge it on. so as i’ve asked a million times send me some data and i’ll fix it. i have iphone 5s and iphone 4s and it works flawlessly on both.

Frank Pytel October 16, 2013 at 3:35 pm

What 90% of your problem is clearly that it’s an Apple product. Hmmm.

Agreed. It does seem that the more comments there are the more wonky it gets. Maybe it’s a disqust issue.

Karl October 16, 2013 at 8:49 pm

would love to know what version of android it is Frank and what resolution as well as a screenshot. it would help me a bunch! Also Smirks- iOS 7 on the iPhone 4 is beyond terrible. Might want to flash back.

Frank Pytel October 20, 2013 at 10:11 am

Hey Karl; update. It appears on my end it may have been disqust. All websites now seem to be working. On FitsNews i am now seeing Article > block of ads > disqust comments > ads > FitsNews footer. Hope that helps.

CorruptionInColumbia October 17, 2013 at 7:14 am

Thing is, there ARE sites with forms of Disqus very similar to this one’s, where I can view almost endless comment streams with no problems.

FWIW, I am using Safari on a MacBook Pro.

Jesus H. Christ! October 16, 2013 at 6:59 pm

The original site looked just fine (as much as I hate to admit it). I guess Mace should get the credit.

It’s gotten worse, and harder to read, with each “improvement.”

THANK YOU, with regard to Disqus getting worse with more comments added!!!!!!!!!

WTF is wrong with the Disqus commenting on this site? Some sites which use Disqus, which appear identical to the version used on Fits, allow me to view a virtually unlimited number of comments with no trouble. On here, once you get past a certain magic number (sometimes as few as fifteen or twenty), I become blind. All I see is the avatars or the blocks where they would go, nothing else.

This latest format for Fits really does suck ass. I love the site, just not the technology.

Hey Karl,

Can you make my hyperlinks appear orange or purple instead of the grey color that they are now.

Thanks.

Actually, any contrasting color would be appreciated.

Frank Pytel October 16, 2013 at 3:36 pm

css access. Gosh. Haven’t seen that forever on a webpage. What browser are you using TBG. You might be able to force your own CSS on top of the page to make the links the color you like.

Reply
TontoBubbaGoldstein October 16, 2013 at 4:04 pm

Using Chrome (like all the cool people!). Hyperlinks in the main articles are blue, but in the comments (by myself or any other poster), they are gray……
Please ‘splain, what CSS is. TBG thought it had something to do with the Hunley….

Karl October 16, 2013 at 8:53 pm

I’ll go look at the css for comments they actually might let me change it.

Frank Pytel October 17, 2013 at 6:23 am

Chrome. Oh hell yea brother. You can totally twerk it….Uhh Tweek, TWEEK. You can set up to force websites to use whatever colors you want.

http://productforums.google.com/forum/#!topic/chrome/mGKEiaxvwlo

Or just google Customize Chrome CSS. It’s real simple. Might get a little wonky if you go over board. Just work with the tags and you’ll be ok. You can really jack up the look of a site though if you want to play around :)

Karl October 20, 2013 at 2:18 pm

i was talking about within disqus i know i can personally do it.

My bad Carl. No can do. I don’t think it’s FitsNews anyway. I’m pretty sure it’s Disqust. Every site I go to now does the same thing. I have a MyTouch phone. The cheapy ones that stuffmart sells. If I can manage to somehow get a screenshot to you I’ll send it though. I forget what flavor I’m using. Probably Boogers v0.9 Android :)

So you do realize that what Mozilla is going to do, Chrome already has that option in the browser…? Sounds like you’re getting something in return for pimping it. And your website looked better and was easier to navigate before the remodel.

Interesting. The Myrtle Beach Chamber of Commerce has convinced Google, as well as Facebook, to help them screw over a local entrprenuer named David Hucks who has challenged them in many ways. He has represented 18 hotels and advertised for other businesses that don’t “hop to” for the chamber. They conspired with the city of MB a couple of years ago to get Facebook to basically disable his site that was tied in with FB, by claiming falsely that he was saying it was the official site/FBPage for the city of Myrtle Beach. WMBF News helped with that. >>>

Boz Martin October 16, 2013 at 2:29 pm

Ted Fortenberry, head honcho of WMBF, just happened to be the head of the marketing committee for the MB Area Chamber. What are the odds, right? MBPD, notoriously used as “enforcers” for the “MB Mafia”, arrested Hucks a while back on an entirely bogus “road rage” charge. (WMBF was all over that story, naturally.) And more recently, the Chamber and the City of Myrtle Beach have convinced Google not to feature one of Hucks’ companies, Myrtle Beach Hotels, on Google Maps. Several of the member hotels got booted from Google Maps as well.

Lesson from all this: When it comes to fucking people over for the rich and powerful, Google is no better than Mozilla. In fact, let us remember when Google helped the Red Chinese communist government by helping them to censor the web in that nation — just to gain marke share there among competing browsers.

I use Chrome knowing they are rat bastards because their suite makes me more productive.

If I ever needed privacy I’d use a third party OS and an obscure browser and still not trust it fully.
