SOUTH CAROLINA – State Senator Lee Bright, who has a perfect conservative voting record and the rare ability to unite all wings of the conservative movement, will officially begin his U.S. Senate run against Lindsey Graham Tuesday morning in a 10 am EDT tele-conference with Republican leaders, including liberty and Tea Party activists from across South Carolina.
“I’m eager to get started” said Bright, adding that Tuesday’s announcement is “the first step towards bringing this nation back to its founding principles. Conservative Republican leaders all across South Carolina recognize that, which is why we’re inviting all of them to join me in this tele-town hall tomorrow morning.”
Bright understands the challenge of bringing down a sitting Senator, and he understands the size of Graham’s war chest, but insists that “Lindsey Graham can accept all the special interest money he wants, but he can’t smother his record with money or hide from his habit of capitulating to the likes of Chuck Schumer and Harry Reid.”
On this, the grassroots and tea party organizations across South Carolina agree.
“Senator Graham has shown himself to be part of the ruling elite who is more concerned with pleasing the Washington ‘in-crowd’ than representing the good people of South Carolina,” says Goose Creek Tea Party activist Joan Peters. “After the heartbreak of losing Senator DeMint, sending Lee Bright to Washington to work alongside Tim Scott is something we must do.”
Tea Party activist and Mount Pleasant resident Debbie Jones adds that “any conservative who has watched him in action will make it a priority to hear him announce his candidacy for U.S. Senate. I’m looking forward to his campaign.”
Laurens County Tea Party activist Diane Belsom is also impressed with Senator Bright, saying, “I am very excited that state Senator Lee Bright is entering the race for U.S. Senator. As a state senator, he has shown himself to be a proven fighter who promotes constitutional and conservative values. At this critical point in America’s history, it is essential that we send proven fighters to Washington, not statists who have been there too long and have lost touch with the values of their constituencies. I look forward to hearing more about Lee Bright’s plans for moving our country forward.”
His track record is indeed something Bright is eager to exploit, adding, “my voting record is one-hundred percent bulletproof in the advancement of core conservative values. Meanwhile, the grassroots citizens recognize that Graham is in lock-step with the DC establishment because of his liberal voting record – casting votes for amnesty, liberal supreme court justices, cap and trade, bailouts, debt ceiling increases, and on and on.”
Bright mentioned that “Since Barack Obama was first elected, Lindsey Graham has done nothing to slow down much less roll back the liberal Obama-Reid-Pelosi agenda; instead he relentlessly works the Sunday talk shows and D.C. cocktail parties. He is part of the problem and not part of the solution. I will be part of the solution – and the grassroots voters know it, and that’s why I will be South Carolina’s next Senator.”

I only know what I have read about Mr. Bright and from that he seems a pretty good fellow, but, his polling will show him gaining on any opposition until….. he gets asked about abortion or gay marriage. The harangue that will follow those questions will turn off a good many voters and his polling numbers will plummet into oblivion.
