Washington, DC—Congressman Jeff Duncan has invited another firearms company to relocate to South Carolina to avoid what he describes as an “anti-gun and anti-gun owner” climate coming from some state governments. On Tuesday, Duncan wrote Magpul’s COO, Doug Smith, to invite the company to consider moving its operations to South Carolina.

Magpul Industries Corp., located in Erie Colorado, has vowed to leave the state if lawmakers pass a bill banning high-capacity magazines. Magpul was founded in 1999, and has a diverse product line ranging from sights and grips, to magazines and iphone cases. Currently, the company employs around 200 workers in their facility and over 400 suppliers and contractors.

On Monday, the Colorado House of Representatives passed the anti-gun measure, prompting Magpul to warn legislators that passage of the bill would “harm the rights of law abiding citizens, and drive jobs out of the state while doing nothing to improve public safety.”

“South Carolina would welcome Magpul with open arms,” said Rep. Duncan. “In South Carolina, we believe in the Second Amendment. We believe in free enterprise. We believe in the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Our state welcomes any individual or business who believes the same.”

Last month, Congressman Duncan sent a similar letter encouraging George Kollitides, the CEO of the parent company for Remington Arms, to consider relocating the company’s New York production facilities to South Carolina.

Members of the South Carolina business community were thrilled by the Congressman’s announcement.

Ronnie Hall, President of the Daucusville Business Association said “I appreciate Congressman Duncan’s leadership in encouraging businesses like Remington and Magpul to relocate to South Carolina. We strongly support the Second Amendment, and would welcome these respectable businesses to relocate to our state.”
