AMERICANS’ RIGHT TO BEAR ARMS IN THE CROSSHAIRS

U.S. Vice President Joe Biden’s “gun control” report contained nineteen recommendations for “executive action” – unilateral moves the administration of Barack Obama could conceivably make to further erode our Second Amendment rights. Most of Biden’s recommendations reportedly revolve around more aggressive enforcement of existing laws – and greater coordination of agencies within the labyrinth of the federal government – however we expect Obama to go overboard on these executive orders given the reticence of the U.S. Congress to go along with his crackdown on guns.

In addition to these nineteen executive actions, Obama is also pushing several legislative proposals – an assault weapons ban, universal background checks and a ban on high-capacity magazines.

All of these knee-jerk measures come in the wake of last month’s school shooting in Newtown, Connecticut.

Obviously we’ll be addressing these measures more specifically as Obama comes forward with concrete proposals, but for the time being it’s clear that we are about to enter into a new era of civil disobedience – one in which the people of the United States must either claim their liberties or stand idly by as they are stripped from them.

No problem with that or even treating some more guns as Class III Weapons and subject to federal laws of ownership.

Perhaps President Obama and VP Biden can set the example by disbanding their own security detail, disarming all of their personal detail, and declaring 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue a safe, gun-free zone.

Never mind that Obamacare denied the shooter proper mental health care and medicines…

Yea right, Obama care is not even in place yet. It was the Republicans under Reagan who gutted funding for mental health care in this nation, turning thousands of mentally ill people housed in state mental hospitals (onto the streets.

Of course if we are going to have them on the street I guess they need guns to defend themselves.

The shooter was the product of being raised by a libtarded educrat in a libtarded town in a libtarded state with a wall of “participant” ribbons in the room in his mommie’s basement to show for his youth.

One law the libtarded police unions should have been enforcing: the law against carrying guns on school premises.

Reply
sid January 15, 2013 at 3:39 pm

Um, no, Jan. The mentally ill were removed from state facilities predominantly because the mental health advocate community demanded a re-examination of commitment procedures. A combination of policy changes and court cases led to the flood of folks with mental health problems on the streets of the nation.

No but you can use an AR-15. Get a different upper receiver if you want to use a different caliber. Swap back to 223 when you need to fight for your rights against a future regime that may have gone down the slippery slope to tyranny. It can happen here. Dont think for a second that this country is immune.

Republicans Accuse Obama of Using Position as President to Lead Country

WASHINGTON (The Borowitz Report) — Responding to reports that President Obama is considering signing as many as nineteen executive orders on gun control, Republicans in Congress unleashed a blistering attack on him today, accusing Mr. Obama of “cynically and systematically using his position as President to lead the country.”

Spearheading the offensive was Rep. Steve Stockman (R-Texas), who charged the President with the “wanton exploitation of powers that are legally granted to him under the U.S. Constitution.”

Calling him the “Law Professor-in-Chief,” Rep. Stockman accused Mr. Obama of “manipulating a little-known section of the Constitution,” Article II, which outlines the power of the President.

“President Obama looks down the list of all of the powers that are legally his and he’s like a kid in a candy store,” Rep. Stockman said. “It’s nauseating.”

The Texas congressman said that if Mr. Obama persists in executing the office of the Presidency as defined by the Constitution, he could face “impeachment and/or deportation.”

Noting that the President has not yet signed the executive orders on gun control, Rep. Stockman said that he hoped his stern words would serve as a wake-up call to Mr. Obama: “Mr. President, there’s still time for you to get in line. But if you continue to fulfill the duties of President of the United States that are expressly permitted in the Constitution, you are playing with fire.”

What is total BS is what this does to the world view of the US. How can the US abdicate the moral high ground on civil liberties and personal freedoms and still be viewed as the leader of the free world!! Look around people! Watch any newscast and you see thousands of people in Muslim countries in the Middle East and Africa waving assault guns while they drive around in the back of pick-up trucks. Those are our rights as Americans too damn it!

Oh they talk a good game. But I suspect that most of the rabid loud gunfondlers would cower in their man caves, paralyzed in their La-Z-Boys, if special police squads were ever sent to round up guns. And the very idea that they would, far less could, ward off a serious attempt at a hostile national takeover (by domestic enemy or foreign)is ludicrous in its mere beholding. Patriotism and loyalty by our police and military and rule of law is the line that holds our freedoms (such as they are), not a scattered rabble of paunchy gun lovers.

sid January 15, 2013 at 8:40 pm

Yeah, because it’s impossible to imagine several million of these gun owners are former military and law enforcement, with years of training and years of experience. And it is beyond the realm of possibility that a large number of those tasked with disarming their fellow citizens might refuse. Not that I think it will ever come to confiscation, but if it did, I don’t think you have any idea what would actually transpire. I doubt you have a very firm grasp of who makes up the 80-90 million gun owners in this country.

Archtypal barstool bravado. My point exactly.

Gun owners protect nothing but their own occupied houses and cars (and the occasional AA meeting and small store), and that is quite enough and is just fine.

Our individual freedoms and national freedom and security are in other and far more capable hands. That gun owners are part of our overall security and ultimate assurance of freedom is simply a self-serving delusion. And a ludicrous one.

Paunchy Teabaggers with pistols is closer to the truth.

Nice deflection on the topic actually being discussed. But what you think should cause someone to be “embarrassed” doesn’t really matter much. The idea that anyone who posts anonymously would be embarrassed about what they posted is pretty funny. I guess that speaks to your general lack of self esteem.

As for what I posted, sure, I remember. I said I thought Obama would lose, and that he would lose Colorado, Florida, North Carolina, Ohio, and Virginia. I got one right, so yay for me!

Of course, I wasn’t the only person with such predictions, and even some who get paid to do the same got it just as wrong as me. Not sure why I should be “embarrassed” about that, but it sounds like you have some confidence issues.

Do you get “embarrassed” every time you are incorrect with what you believe will happen? Must be tough being you.

Now, back to your “reality.” Let me know if you ever want to discuss actual issues.

Sorry – no more time today after this post to toy around with you.

Exactly. Your reality. It exists only in your delusional world. I’m glad we finally see eye-to-eye. I’ll continue to operate in reality, while you flounder around in whatever “reality” you have manufactured in your sad existence.

Of course, the opinions of a delusional leftists mean very little to me, so keep on thinking about me whatever it is you wish. I shan’t lose a moment’s sleep.

That’s right. You, Joe, BigT and other rightwing nuts made said predictions. Embarrassed? Why be if you consider that you’re in “good company”. Outside reality? You betcha!

Reply

No, I was referring to professionals, not the loon to whom you refer or Joe. As for “good company,” when you use quotes in such a manner, you imply I used the term. I did not. I wasn’t commenting on the quality of the people who made similar predictions. I was just noting that some professionals also made them.

I presume you also have confidence issues, but if you don’t, you should. You are a rather dim bulb, even compared to most of the lefties that post here.

Fascinating. Sell that to the many combat vets who have demonstrated that they are quite competent with firearms and have the dead gook and raghead body counts to prove it.

As for rebellion, Syria proves that a few determined folks can make things untenable even for a ruthless government. Americans have far more weapons, the US is vast, and revolutionary models from Viet Nam through Afghanistan and Syria demonstrate that governments still require “the consent of the governed” to stay in power. The US military can barely control tiny, primitive countries.
