ROOT CAUSE OF TRAGEDY MUST BE ACKNOWLEDGED
Some perspective on today’s event: It is nothing new. Innocents have been slaughtered throughout history. Governments are doing it as we speak; there is talk about Syria’s dictator using chemical weapons against his people. Thousands of children starve to death daily. Other thousands are killed across the world. In the United States, children legally are slaughtered in the womb.
It is good that tonight, we mourn Newtown, Connecticut. But we do so because we know about it, can see it, almost can touch it. But we also mourn–knowingly or not–a country that is more crass, more craven, more evil than we care to admit. We can blame all sorts of laws, or lack of laws, and we might be partially be right. But unless we acknowledge the ultimate cause of the slaughter, we will be fostering a climate that will continue to corrupt and erode.
The cause is sin, folks. It is just more open and rampant today. The ultimate irony: we hide the antidote to sin in the empty refrain, “Happy holidays.”

Guns are efficient, but if they all magically disappeared tomorrow, nutjobs would simply switch to explosives, knives, poison, or some other madness. We can’t effectively legislate sanity (or morality, for that matter)

I here what Mcalister is saying about sin. However, to leave it at that is not enough for me. God gave us all a brain to think with. To combat this evil sin we must all come together and realize that our children are at stake for the policies we implement in our school systems to protect our children. Schools are, by nature, vulnerable. The question is how do we close this gap of vulnerability in our school systems? The answer is simple. We must put aside our petty differences that we all have and enact policies that are going to close the gap of vulnerability in our school systems. This is going to take the effort of each one of us in our society to make this happen. School Resource Officers in all schools is a great start. High tec survelilance equipment, tied into local law enforcement agencies, is another good suggestion. With a strong think tank I am confident that we can all come up with great ideas to reduce the vulnerability that our schools are today experiencing. Will some of this cost? Sure it will. But what better investment could we possibly give our children, than a safe learning environment. This is the time to start taking stronger proactive steps in our country for the sake of our children.
I have it on good sources that this guy was a member of the Teaparty. If you want to talk about sin, expand your remarks a bit to these guys. This commentary is about as insane as the murderer. Get a life, Mr. McAlister. Use your brain and the logic nature gave you. Explaining this behavior with “sin” is no explanation at all. If you are going to comment (and I wish you wouldn’t) try to think a little first. No doubt your comments are real comforting to those who lost children.
