A veteran detective with the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office (ACSO) was fired last month after filming and posting “sex acts” to an adult website, according to separation papers provided by the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy (SCCJA).
The same paperwork identified the detective in question as Adrian Derek Sane, 54, a career lawman who had just completed his seventh year with the Upstate agency. His tenure was interrupted only by several months of military leave in 2020.
But neither Sane’s military rank nor his standing in law enforcement could shield him from his expulsion from ACSO on July 22, 2026.

“After an internal investigations [sic] was conducted, it was determined that Sane was recording videos of himself conducting sex acts,” ACSO Lt. Jonathan Williams wrote in the separation papers. “Sane was also disseminating the material via adult websites.”
Beyond those two sentences, Williams offered no further explanation to the SCCJA for Sane’s termination. The same paperwork listed his conduct as a policy violation rather than misconduct, meaning Sane’s law enforcement certification was not revoked as part of his digital dalliance.
As for the extent of his conduct, an ACSO spokesperson told FITSNews Sane’s sex acts did not involve another person – nor were they filmed or uploaded while he was on duty.
The spokesperson further divulged that the agency consulted with the SCCJA “for guidance in determining whether or not his actions were considered misconduct.”

“It was not considered misconduct because what he was doing was not illegal, but was a violation of our code of conduct general order,” the spokesperson explained.
Prior to ACSO, Sane had clocked over nine years with the South Carolina Department of Public Safety (SCDPS), a tenure interrupted by a gap between 2013 and 2014 likely due to military leave, though the SCCJA record provided to FITSNews does not specify a reason.
During his time with SCDPS, Sane attained the rank of at least lance corporal and was named an Officer of the Year for 2016, an honor awarded in 2017.
Up until about 2020, he was frequently pictured online with his then-wife and multiple children.
