With his nation sleeping and without congressional authorization, U.S. president Donald Trump – who campaigned on a pro-peace ‘America First’ agenda aimed at keeping our country out of costly foreign entanglements – joined forces with Israel early Saturday morning (February 28, 2026) to launch what he termed “major combat operations” against the Islamic Republican of Iran.
“Our objective is to defend the American people by eliminating imminent threats from the Iranian regime – a vicious group of very hard, terrible people,” Trump said in a video statement issued shortly before 3:00 a.m. EST. “Its menacing activities directly endanger the United States, our troops, our bases overseas and our allies throughout the world. For 47 years, the Iranian regime has chanted ‘death to America’ and waged an unending campaign of bloodshed and mass murder targeting the United States, our troops and the innocent people in many countries.”
Trump also reiterated his undocumented claim that Iran was close to developing a nuclear weapon – even though the United States was supposed to have completely destroyed its nuclear capabilities during a strike last spring.

“Israel and the United States embarked on an operation to remove the existential threat posed by the terrorist regime in Iran,” Israeli president Benjamin Netanyahu said in a statement. “I thank our great friend, President Donald Trump, for his historic leadership.”
Parroting Trump’s line, Netanyahu stated “for 47 years, the Ayatollahs’ regime has chanted ‘Death to Israel.'”
“Together we will stand, together we will fight, and together we will ensure the eternity of Israel,” Netanyahu said.

America’s foremost warmonger, U.S. senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina, was positively giddy at the news.
“My mind is racing with the thought that the murderous Ayatollah’s regime in Iran will soon be no more,” Graham wrote on X, saying the American operation would be “violent, extensive and I believe, at the end of the day, successful.”
“As I watch and monitor this historic operation, I’m in awe of President Trump’s determination to be a man of peace but at the end of the day, evil’s worst nightmare,” Graham added.
While Graham celebrated Trump and Netanyahu’s undeclared war, Iranian missiles launched retaliatory strikes at multiple U.S. targets – including American military installations in Bahrain and Kuwait.

Iran’s foreign ministry issued a statement assailing the “criminal military aggression by the United States and the Zionist regime,” vowing its troops would “not hesitate in their valiant defense of our beloved homeland.”
“History bears witness that Iranians have never bowed their heads in submission to foreign aggression and domination; this time too, the response of the Iranian nation will be decisive and definitive, making the aggressors regret their criminal act,” the statement warned.
Iran also released footage of what it claimed was an “indiscriminate” attack on a primary school in Minab – a city near the Strait of Hormuz – which it insisted was responsible for ‘killing and maiming tens of innocent young girls.”

While the extent and impact of the American-Israeli attack – and the Iranian response to it – is likely to remain clouded by the fog of war (and selective reporting) for the foreseeable future, what is immediately and abundantly clear is the hypocrisy of the Trump administration in pursuing this path.
Trump and his vice president, JD Vance, campaigned as the “pro-peace” ticket in 2024 – vowing to keep America out of precisely such engagements.
“They said ‘he will start a war,'” Trump said in claiming victory on November 6, 2024. “I’m not going to start a war, I’m going to stop the wars.”
Just eight months ago, though, Trump launched preemptive military operations against Iran – claiming to have “completely and totally obliterated” the nation’s nuclear enrichment capabilities. Despite this claim, Trump repeatedly argued – including during this week’s ‘State of the Union‘ address – that America had to strike Iran again to prevent it from developing a nuclear weapon.
“I will NEVER allow the world’s number one sponsor of terror, which they are, by far, to have a nuclear weapon,” Trump said during his speech.

Trump’s War department referred to the campaign as “Operation Epic Fury.” Netanyahu called it “Operation Lion’s Roar.”
Whatever its name, it is being waged in direct contravention of the U.S. Constitution – which places the power to wage war exclusively in the hands of congress. U.S. congressman Thomas Massie blasted the operation, referring to the attacks as “acts of war unauthorized by congress.”
In addition to his stated goal of eliminating “imminent threats,” Trump made it abundantly clear his administration was also seeking to engineer regime change in Tehran. In his early morning remarks, he told Iranians “the hour of your freedom is at hand.”
“When we are finished, take over your government,” Trump said. “It will be yours to take. This will be, probably, your only chance for generations.”

I don’t like her one bit, but perhaps she would not have been as servile towards Israel as Trump is. Trumpstein may have opened a can of worms to cover his many misdeeds, which will not be easily closed.
In the campaign, Trump said she would start a war with Iran and that’s why we should not vote for her.
I am not surprised! I voted for him in 16. The last two Presidential elections, I left that part of my ballot blank because all choices sucked equally bad.
If the United States is any indicator, there will be a significant portion going for fascist theocracy. If you can get 65% of Evangelicals to go for that in the US, what can we expect from anyone else? I was a Baptist for a large part of my life, but I had to get out when it became obvious they had abandoned most of the teachings of Christ, and supplanted them with whatever the heck MAGA is. Seems to be a combination of hate, anger, resentment, charity for none, and cult worship of a man who has violated almost all of the 10 commandments. many times over, bragged about assaulting women, and says he has never asked for god’s forgiveness for anything he has ever done.

The article makes it sound as if President Trump needed congressional approval to attack Iran, wrong. It’s unbelievable how many people have zero idea how to protect and defend a NATION. Do any of you remember obama, “I’m drawing a line in the Sand!”, yet when Iran crossed the line, the coward president did nothing. My bad, he did so something, he moved the line. It’s wonderful to have a President who MAGA by providing Peace through Strength, something NO DEMOCRAT would have the guts to do.

If you want regime change you need an opposition present in the country to take over. Neither Cuba, nor Iran or Venezuela , Trump’s current targets for ‘regime change’ have opposition forces politically or militarily able to step up to the plate. The Shah’s son will attempt to muscle his way in but he has little credibility or support in Iran. The The kurds will attempt to reignite their independence fight possibly with help of Iraki and Syrian kurds. Without ‘boots on the ground ‘only by air dominance this will not happen. The Revolutionary Guards, a state in the state have too much too much to lose and enough weapons to dig in. The crazy Houthis and other proxies will attack ships again. The oil price will climb above $100 per barrel quickly, and the heavy crude from Venezuela will not be available in sufficient amounts. 20% of the world oil trade are shipped through the street of Hormuz.
