“Mace added that her “acting out” as governor would include the ramped up deportation of illegal aliens, lower taxes, improved infrastructure and an end to “pay-to-play corruption.””

I doubt it. Hard to believe someone who struggles to navigate an airport without losing her temper is going to be able to accomplish anything for our state. She would be better off as an Instagram influencer. Then she could continue her antics without harming South Carolina.

What is it about airports and airplanes that induces such mean-spirited comments from Republican officeholders? You have Nancy Mace’s profanity-laced tirade toward airport personnel and now you have Donald Trump’s classless comment to a female reporter on Air Force One: “Quiet, piggy! Whatever happened to basic good manners? Wouldn’t it to nice if elected officials set an example?

The easiest option here is just to stop being an awful person, but a lot of us commenters are aware of how difficult that tends to be for MAGA folks.

I’m not commenting specifically on Mace because I donl’t know if any of this is accurate or not, but its one thing when an elected official is a “screamer” but is in the legislative branch, or only heads a small section of the federal or state executive branch. They can cycle through talent from their abusive behavior (like Kamala Harris) and while it looks bad, it doesn’t really cause much downstream disfunction in what the government actually does. When that type of person suddenly becomes head of one of the largest agencies, or the head of the executive branch, it’s a whole ‘nother ballgame. When seasoned professionals who can retire at any moment pull chocks and leave – because they won’t put up with the “crazy” but for so long – that causes real harm. Other younger talent that has a ready translation to the private market will quickly follow, and then you have a dangerous talent vacuum. Even-handed temperament and demeanor; the ability to handle adversity, be it large or small, without losing your shit and exploding all over the people that serve you, are the real hallmarks of true leadership – the other guy is just running the train on pure fear. Bottom line, the governor’s mental state, including his emotional and intellectual IQ is extremely important, as well as all the other statewide constitutional officers.
