This letter is confusing. Seems like its an industrial area that they are located in so what is the problem? Is this guy an adjacent resident or maybe from the “windmills cause cancer” crowd?
The Fort Mill School District says it purchased land for two new schools in 2017 and 2019, when “light industrial” zoning still allowed schools as a permitted use.
In early 2022, York County revised its zoning code and removed schools from the list of permitted uses in light industrial zones.
After that change, the district applied for — and was granted — a rezoning, allowing it to move forward with construction of schools near the Silfab Solar facility.
All these NIMBYs think Silfab built their facility too close to the schools because the district is too chicken shit to just come out and say it’s their fault.
And then there’s this big zoning conspiracy – the hill that this guy Tim will die on. Learn to play guitar or something Tim. Jesus Christ.
The part of the complaint you missed Bilbo was that the current site Silfab is using is zoned for LIGHT industrial and they are a self-admitted solar panel manufacturing facility which should only be in a heavy industrial zone.
The chemicals they have onsite would require an evacuation area 3 miles in diameter should there be a release. Fire and other emergency responders also do not currently have the equipment required for such an emergency.
