Inmate On Inmate Violence At Lee Correctional

Lee Correctional Institution in Bishopville, South Carolina – which was the site of the deadliest U.S. prison attack in a quarter century earlier this year – saw more violence on Saturday, multiple sources close to the facility told this news outlet.

The violence reportedly began when an inmate stabbed another inmate in a shower at one of the facility’s dormitories.

The inmate who was stabbed was transported to a nearby hospital for medical attention.  His condition is unknown at this time.

Sources close to the prison tell us the incident is under investigation.

The stabbing took place as protesters gathered outside the gates of the facility to demand better treatment of the inmates inside.

Lee Correctional is a level-three (maximum security) prison administered by the embattled S.C. Department of Corrections (SCDC).  Four months ago, it was rocked by a wave of violence that left seven inmates dead and another seventeen wounded.

Prior to that, it was no stranger to violence … and death.
