Dear Friends,

The citizens of South Carolina have chosen to re-hire me for another term. I am humbled, enthused and energized by their trust and approval – and I am thankful for the opportunity to provide proper stewardship of their money for another four years.

In 2010, I promised to make transparency and accountability the cornerstones of my efforts to protect your money. I am proud to say that I have done just that. Some insiders and special interests are not happy with me, but I don’t work for them – I work for you!

Our campaign was positive. We traveled extensively and listened to the voters – and we heard them loud and clear. The people want their money and assets protected, the retirement fund to be transparent and well governed, and fraud, waste and abuse in state government to be exposed.

Their mandate is simple, and we understand it. So tonight, we celebrate. Tomorrow, we go back to work with only one goal in mind – to serve the people of South Carolina by fulfilling their expectations.

I want to offer my sincere gratitude to all my supporters, volunteers, friends, and family. Your support has made all of this possible and I look forward to what we can accomplish in the coming years!

Curtis Loftis
South Carolina Treasurer

Does the end of this election mean that irritating Loftis video ad that popped up every time I came to FITS will now finally stop?

Got to love a political blog website that has ads for a politician.

Dan June 12, 2014 at 8:50 am

Reading this sick shit makes me glad I voted for Loftis.

Dan is curt June 12, 2014 at 10:53 am

Oh, Curt, it’s so obvious that you are the one posting these responses, jackass! You updated your facebook status at the same time. Aren’t you supposed to be working instead of trolling on the internet? Wouldn’t your fire your employees for blogging on state time? Are you exempt, you immoral hypocrite?

Phil June 12, 2014 at 12:42 pm

And to think these sicko’s live among us.

Dan & Phil are Curt June 13, 2014 at 8:40 am

Yep, and the biggest one just got re-elected by the smaller ones

Dan is Curtis! June 16, 2014 at 9:38 pm

Of course you voted for yourself, Curtis! We all know that!

Loverboy June 11, 2014 at 12:14 am

Two ethics complaints to be filed against Loftis within the next two weeks. Serious ones that might involve federal authorities. You can run curty my boy but you can’t hide. Right, moron these criticisms of what you’re doing will not stop at this election.

Bill June 11, 2014 at 1:06 am

62% v 38%
Congratulations Mr. Loftis

Matthew June 11, 2014 at 6:08 am

Considering Brian Adams from what I read on here had basically no campaign money to spend, getting close to 40% vs an incumbent isn’t too shabby.

True June 11, 2014 at 8:02 am

You are correct, Matthew! If the “big money” investment commission guys were behind Adams, where is that money? 38% of the vote is excellent for someone who barely campaigned.

Cash June 11, 2014 at 8:10 am

It is a landslide. I don’t think you can call it anything other than that. Had Loftis been the typical, be quiet kind of constitutional officer he would have gotten an extra 5%, but he has pissed off some people. In my opinion, he has pissed off all the right people.

Bill Cash Rick= Curtis June 11, 2014 at 8:57 am

That ain’t no landslide, jack! I bet you were sweating your @$$ off. You just managed to fool a lot of folks, and soon they will realize how bad. Had adams campaigned like most typical politicians, you wouldn’t be posting comments here and on facebook on taxpayer time, you would be doing it from home. And you may try to forget how you campaigned in the past, but we all remember and know the only reason you ran a “clean”” campaign is because your little minions could not find anything negative on your opponent. Remember 2010 and the tricks you pulled? You haven’t changed a bit, your just couldn’t find anything this time. But those pissed off people you refer to are probably still pissed. Are you ready?

In debt June 11, 2014 at 8:15 am

We’re you sweating, Curtis? LOL!! A unknown from Spartanburg got 38% of the votes, with no name recognition (like you) and no campaign debt (unlike you). How are you going to pay that $717,000 loan? Are you just going to carry it over to your next campaign?

Confederate liberal June 11, 2014 at 9:34 am

One will be filed today that will be particularly problematic for Mr. Loftis.

Karis Ann Pierce June 11, 2014 at 6:27 am

Brian Adams, a complete political unknown with no money scores over 37% of the vote against a well-funded well known incumbent. Mr. Loftis, if he decides to run against you again, if I were you, I would be worried. There is obviously significant dissatisfaction with how you handle yourself. Get yourself a little psychological help as you begin your second term. You will be surprised how much good it will do you–and us.

Squishy123 June 11, 2014 at 9:41 am

Don’t you have some ironing to do?

Guest June 12, 2014 at 3:54 pm

What a manly thing to say.

Smirks June 11, 2014 at 6:35 am

Sweet, a few more months of lame anti-Loftis douchebags posting the same bullshit!

Rick the College Kid June 11, 2014 at 7:49 am

Here is an irritating fact for you haters:

In the counties where these hate mongers live, Loftis won or in some cases did very well. Notable are:

Richland is home to Sam Griswold and his “Retiree Association.”
Spartanburg is home to Brian adams,
Florence is home to Reynolds Williams and Hugh Leatherman
Dorchester is home to Converse Chellis
Lexington is home to Scott Malyerck.

This proves the counties exposed to the haters and their vitriol voted for Loftis by some of the largest margins.

Loftis had predicted 58/42 because of his stance against certain special interest and insiders and an ant-incumbent tide. He beat those expectations.

My college days are over. This is my last post. I am no longer tasked with winding you fellows up and keeping you busy, which by the way was very easy. So the blog is yours. My job is finished.

It ain't over June 11, 2014 at 8:06 am

No, Curtis, you’re wrong. You know you can’t stay away frm this site and making comments, and the tasks are far fom over. What is before you will require a crooked defense lawyer, so get ready to be exposed for what you really are. Using the same terms like “vitriol” and “hate mongers” gives you away.

notcurt June 12, 2014 at 8:12 am

Curtis, your lack of education and research skills is clearly showing. You have “proved” nothing through recitation of these associations. And beating your own expectations set by you proves nothing. My expectations were that Brian Adams would get 10% of the vote. He got 4 times my expectations. What does that prove? Well with that and a dollar I can get a cup of coffee, maybe.

Poor curt June 12, 2014 at 8:34 am

Earlier he predicted he would win by 73%. Now that the race was closer than anyone expected, he is backpedaling like crazy, saying he knew running a clean campaign would cost him 10% of the votes. Don’t you know he was crapping his pants when those numbers starting rolling in. That in itself, is enough to make me laugh! Loftis knows he only squeaked through. If this had been the general election in November and the Democratic Party had a candidate, his lying, cheating, hypocritical behind would be out. Hey, maybe a petition candidate will give it a run!

Confederate liberal June 12, 2014 at 8:45 am

Where do I sign?

snickering June 15, 2014 at 6:46 pm

Treasurer Loftis does his job and does it well. That’s all I care about.

Sorry, you're wrong June 15, 2014 at 8:43 pm

Loftis doesn’t do anything well. The staff in the Office of State Treasurer does their work well. Loftis is a joke.

John Dallas June 16, 2014 at 1:20 pm

Oh Curt, your college days have been few and so long ago. This will not be your last post. You cannot stay away from pay to say Fits. Why the college kid is no longer tasked to winding fellows? And why would anyone spread lies, false accusations, just for fun? You must be a candy faced boy with a huge bulge that Curt loves so! Hope you did not get his lousy disease . That could slow your college days forever. See Thetruecurtis

Three cheers for “The Bug Man”–
He’s stomped on one more pest.
The PC repairman can now take a walk
(If he is still able
To drag a USB 3.0 cable)
And crawl back under Reynolds’ rock.

PS: Had Ryberg or Williams the guts to run,
This race might have been a tad more fun.
(Or Even “Karis Ann PIerce”? Let’s mollify her.
Sadly, though, her hair would disqualify her!)
But bagmen prefer to work in the dark,
And hide under the dais in the park.
Taxpayers, hark: you may yet grieve
For what the chairman holds up his sleeve.
PPS: Griz:
We know you are a whiz’s whiz
And, as a soi-disant poet,
Could pen a sonnet Petrarchan–
So, before the cumuli darken
Over you and your boys, do it–
Let ink fly ad-hominem or zany,
For of non-truths, you are the Seamus Heaney.

DJ Rhyme Time June 11, 2014 at 9:11 am

Ooh, ooh, it’s rhyme time! I got one for you:
Loftis is screwy, he’s crazy as hell;
Not much longer and he’ll be posting from jail!

Cryin' Brian June 11, 2014 at 9:25 am

For you, dear fellow, it’s always “slime time,” and if you can point out a functional rhyme in your post, there’s a job for you in the English Department of Clemson. Oops, sorry, gotta pass a thorough physical.

Cryin Brian is curt June 11, 2014 at 9:55 am

Curt, aren’t you supposed to be working, not posting on my taxpayer dime?

Cryin' Brian June 11, 2014 at 5:46 pm

FYI: No longer in the Palmetto State, now a Tarheel, but do find SC politics amusing and, although I seldom agree with him, have much respect for S. Willie’s sense of humor and work ethic. Know your treasurer through NAST. Of the 49+ other members, only a handful work as hard as this guy. You’ll perhaps notice that, over the past 4 yrs, I have satirized a number of SC political figures. R. Williams and his unctuous thugs are supremely worthy of lampooning. It’s people like him, Bill Eckstrom, and even your insipid governor, that make SC the butt of late night TV jokes. And the guy Griswold–whatever the hell he does for the RIC crowd?–why, there’s a master clown for you.

Lol June 12, 2014 at 12:24 am

Upon a google search of NAST, there are only 38 treasurers/CFOs. Not 49. Therefore you’re not a random troll from NC, you’re (wait for it)… Curtis Loftis, Treasurer of South Carolina!

Curt June 12, 2014 at 5:19 am

Exactly. No one who is out-of-state even knows any of those people referenced exist, especially sic and griswold. Dead giveaway. Loser.

Cryin' Brian June 12, 2014 at 11:14 am

Said “members” not T’s ot CFOs. Thank the AP for getting your message outside the state.

Lady Susan June 17, 2014 at 10:16 am

Me think you are drunk again, very drunk, Curt. Certainly very sick, mean and mentally imbalanced. You are a danger to the people of SC! No doubt about that.

Squishy123 June 11, 2014 at 9:39 am

Thank you for taking down that fucking annoying video off this blog. Glad you won, because I followed through and didn’t vote for you simply because of your in your face video.

TontoBubbaGoldstein June 11, 2014 at 6:47 pm

Same here.

CorruptionInColumbia June 11, 2014 at 11:42 am

I’m glad you are with us for another four, Mr Loftis. Thank you or what you are doing for the retirees and future retirees in looking out for the SC Retirement System and its funds.

I’m also glad that obnoxious and detestable video ad that started playing loud audio each time we opened Fits is gone.

junior justice June 11, 2014 at 12:52 pm

The ‘mute’ button is always on unless there is something I’m interested in hearing. —– such as those cool videos you guys provide.

Just wondering June 14, 2014 at 5:18 am

How do you feel about 5 separate groups finding that Loftis’ allegations were baseless? Just curious as to why you support him?

CorruptionInColumbia June 15, 2014 at 8:28 am

Who were these groups and who is in charge of them?

Wayne B June 15, 2014 at 4:46 pm

The Attorney General, SC Ethics Commission, the SC Inspector General, Funston Fiduciary Auditors, and the SC SC Senate Select Committee on the Investment of Retirement Funds and if you don’t know who is in charge of these government and private sector groups you don’t need to be posting.

Former agent June 16, 2014 at 6:11 pm

No sworn testimony, so subpoenaed documents. The state of SC investigates a 29 billion dollar plan over coffee and a danish. Like people tat would do wrong doing would tell you what they did just because you asked!

Wayne B June 16, 2014 at 8:44 pm

It is obvious you are not a former agent of a law enforcement agency or you would know that investigations by investigatory bodies such as the AG or the Inspector General do not swear people in but instead rely upon documentable evidence to produce a finding. They found no evidence of wrong doing. The Senate Subcommittee did swear people in at the insistence of Loftis who in my opinion proceeded to stretch the truth. Your obsession with sworn testimony and supoenas is nothing more than an attempt to cast doubt since five independent public and private organizations did not support Loftis’ three year attempt to destroy the Investment Commission through lies and innuendo.

Former agent, my @$$ June 16, 2014 at 9:35 pm

So, you are saying the out-of-state audit firm is corrupt as well? I am amazed at the stupidity of people like you. It’s obvious you have not DNA your homework.

snickering June 11, 2014 at 2:29 pm

Jealous Guys and Girls (if there were Women) try running on empty. The next name will not be as unpleasant. I would do almost anything to pick his brain. there’s a whole Circus in this mans brain-Congratulations Treasurer Loftis.

Zed June 12, 2014 at 5:21 pm

Most people looking at these comments would come away thinking the haters of Loftis are insane, thus, Loftis must be sane. I just don’t understand the point unless it is designed to elicit sympathy for Loftis.

Zed/curt, you're embarrassing June 14, 2014 at 5:16 am

Nice try, Curtis. Once again, EVERYONE else is insane. When you start saying everyone else is the problem, you might need to take a good look in the mirror. Sort of like saying that 5 different agencies who discovered no wrongdoing at RSIC are all wrong. It’s just not possible. Your lies fooled a lot of uninformed people. Now lets see how much you destroy with your stupidity. You’re in way over your head. You don’t have a financial background. Yeah, that’s right, hypocrite. Everyone you hire has to have an accounting degree or law degree because you don’t have a clue what you are doing.

Truth prevails June 11, 2014 at 10:37 pm

Loftis may have won, but he will still be exposed for what he really is, and very soon. Enjoy the moment, for it won’t last long.

Psalms 10:7. His mouth is full of cursing and deceit and fraud; under his tongue is mischief and vanity.

Proverbs 20:17. Bread of deceit is sweet to a man; but afterwards his mouth shall be full of gravel.

The end June 13, 2014 at 5:25 am

We will witness the demise of the Office of State Treasurer within the next four years, thanks to the uninformed voters that re-elected this nit-wit. Much of the staff has already left, some of them walked without even having another job. That should tell you plenty about the discord in that office. Many more were waiting for the election results before they took off. Get ready. You can rehire for those positions but a college education doesn’t come close to experience. Unfortunately, the uninformed voters dont realize there’s many more functions performed in that office than just the College Savngs Program and the Unclaimed Property Program. But then how could they? Hell, the way it appears, Curtis Loftis doesn’t realize it either.

Anne June 13, 2014 at 7:14 am

Sounds to me like an unqualified employee, that doesn’t like voters or democracy, that can’t find another job, is in trouble with their supervisor.

Anne is Curtis June 13, 2014 at 8:38 am

There you are again, curt! A hour ago posting on facebook, an hour ago posting here! Never fails. Boy, you just can’t stay off this site, can you? Thanks for helping me win a bet!! The truth must really get next to your lying, hypocritical self. You respond every time like clock work.

Clarissa's to blame June 13, 2014 at 10:00 pm

Sounds to me like some bad leadership and a bad work environment.

Stu June 13, 2014 at 7:15 pm

Mr. Loftis. My brother used to say, when we were kids, that shit stinks. Well, the ass clowns posting on this site stink, like a big ole fat turd. Mushy, and gooey, with corn in it. Just wanted you to know.

Stu is curt June 14, 2014 at 5:03 am

Looks like somebody doesn’t like hearing the truth. These posters obviously hit a nerve. Can’t handle the truth coming out, curt?
