Obama, Hitler And The SCGOP

The S.C. Republican Party (SCGOP) is in hot water over a fundraising email which asserts that U.S. President Barack Obama’s Internal Revenue Service (IRS) is his “Gestapo.”

The email – which asks recipients to donate $20.14 to the party – does not directly make the reference, but contains a logo which makes the claim. Take a look …

gestapo

Is this really what we’re writing on today? Sheesh …

This website is no friend of the SCGOP. In fact we recently blistered U.S. Sen. Rand Paul (R-Kentucky) for helping the organization raise money.

“If Rand Paul wishes to have any credibility whatsoever with true fiscal conservative, pro-free market, pro-liberty voters – he will refrain from lending his financial support to an ethically bankrupt entity like the SCGOP,” we wrote of Paul’s efforts.

But in this case the SCGOP is absolutely correct – and the indignation of its critics rings hollow.

Here’s the bottom line: If Obama and his “Republican” stooges like U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham don’t like being referred to as Nazis, then they should stop behaving like Nazis.

(Drops microphone).

What do you think? Vote in our poll and post your thoughts in our comments section below …

UPDATE: Well that didn’t take long. The S.C. Democratic Party (SCDP) just issued a press release demanding Gov. Nikki Haley apologize for her comments.

In Moscow, Ivan was wakened by furious knocking on his door at 3 am.
“Who is there?”, he asks.
“Mail man,” is the response.
Ivan opens the door to find the State Police who take him in for a brutal interrogation.
For the next three months the same thing happens.
The fourth month when the State Police knock there is no answer. Questioning a neighbor they asked, “Where is Ivan?”
“He has moved to America,” is the response. “Ivan got tired of living where the mail is delivered at 3 am in the morning.”

Too far, Will. Has Obama ordered the extinction of an entire race of people? Is he responsible for the deaths of six million members of any one particular race or religion?

This is the type of rhetoric that is unproductive and harmful. But I suppose it will generate a few page hits, so it’s all good, right?

Siccing the IRS on political opponents, or to put it another way, using the power of the state to harass the opposition is certainly a Gestapo-ish tactic. Torture, secret prisons, mass domestic spying programs etc are also.
Keep in mind, Hitler was in power for many years before WWII and the Final Solution came along. It has been said, that had he died in 1939, he would have gone down in history as Germany’s greatest leader.
TBG fears any leader or government that has/exercises this type power because sooner or later the power WILL be put to bad use. As evil as Hitler was, he did not operate in a vacuum; it took many years for the Nazi’s to consolidate enough political power to do what they did. Folks should heed Lord Acton’s words.

Just for fun, let’s move the whole Martin/Zimmerman thing to 1936 Germany and make Martin a German with Nordic features and Zimmerman a Jew. Vis-a-vis the national (federal) government(s), the results may have been similar.

Now take the same hypothetical and move it to Germany in 1941.

Now imagine what the original Martin/Zimmerman would look like in 2018 America………

I have to take issue with you on this GL. Personally I’m sick of hearing the All Jew All the time channel.

Major claims of the Gestapo are as follows (aside from murder/assassination).
1. They operated outside of the law (no judicial review).
2. They spearheaded firearm/weapons registration.
3. They instilled fear by way of jackboots for the purpose of taxation, state mandated education and criminalizing the peoples rights.

There’s the basics. So tell me how the Demlicans, the Repuklicrats, Oshitforbrains, Bushy or any other ‘power player’ the MSM loves is different? Just because they haven’t killed six million doesn’t mean their not on their way to accomplishing it post haste. The analogy is a great one.

Have a Great Day!! :) There won’t be many left with the Demlicans and Republicrats in charge.

What is truly pathetic is that the once GOP, after becoming the party of the Southern Strategy gone nationwide, is the entity that is infinitely closer in organization, ideology and tactics to fascists in general, and Hitler’s Nazis in particular.
Their ignorance of real world history, rather than the revisionist variety pushed by the GOP since Reagan and his one Big Lie after another and adored by the Libertarians, is the reason they don’t know what they have become.

For the sake of community and civility, TBG is willing to cede the GOP = NAZI fascists argument, if you will admit that the Democrats = Stalinist communists.

Yeah….didn’t think so.

TBG thinks both parties are chock full of power hungry, statist whores and that there is not a dime’s worth of difference between them.

Don’t even waste your time TBG…Nozick is nothing more then a Straw man created by Slate to attack libertarianism without actually talking about….libertarianism. lol

Nozick doesn’t even merit an entry in Wikipedia under “libertarianism”…that’s how “important” he is to the idea. It’s completely laughable that anyone important in libertarianism would emerge from Harvard to begin with.

lol

Only dupes looking for hit pieces regardless of content would reference this article.

If you want a “history” you start with the wiki entry, but you better also look up “classical liberalism”; under which libertarianism has some foundational elements as well.

For those wanting to try to effectively attack it, you start with Hayek & Mises…maybe backtracking to why Lockean property theories are “wrong”(and Bastiat perhaps), Say as well…then attack the Hayek & Mises underpinnings…moving in for the kill on Murray Rothbard.

Good luck with all that for those who try…lol….I’m sure there’s some gov’t funding someplace for someone that can make a good go of it.

TontoBubbaGoldstein August 1, 2013 at 8:23 am

Agreed. The neat thing about Bastiat’s “The Law” is that it is just as relevant today, as when it was written. If you want a hoot, get a copy of P J O’Rourke’s The American Spectator’s Enemies List (1996). You will be amazed at how much of this book could have been written in 2013. It’s clear that lots of people have no recognition of a metaphor when they see one.

I am a conservative, proud American, and love my country. Regardless of what party you support, this was ill-conceived and just unintelligent. Most who hate and mean truly hate Obama and simply cannot articulate beyond rhetoric they google, cut and paste into blogs, need to look at if they want to be part of an intelligent conversation. If you are Grand Tango or some others, the answer will be a string of rants, something with liberal in it and/or name-calling.

If you haven’t studied history of what the Nazis did or the Gestapo was, then maybe you should google that and read it carefully. Name-calling and vapid rhetoric is just not productive. It is astonishing that comparisons like that are viewed so casually. Maybe it is just the distance in years for some people or the shear lack of an historical and political perspective. Grow up people and be adult. Geeeezzz

Yeah, this “Gestapo” stuff is over the line, hyperbole. Not useful at all.

Why for my own part, for example, I don’t consider the Teabaggers a bit worse than the SA. A useful analogy thus, not hyperbolic nonsense as SS or Einsatzgruppen would be.

Christy or Limbaugh could do a good Goering imitation.

I had the exact same thought when I saw the piece on Christy attacking libertarians.

Our comparison may well be unfair to the old drug addict, though. (Of course, I am referring to Goering and not Limbaugh.)

“Naturally the common people don’t want war: Neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, IT IS THE LEADERS of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is TELL THEM THEY ARE BEING ATTACKED, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. IT WORKS THE SAME IN ANY COUNTRY.” –Goering at the Nuremberg Trials

Get back to me when Rushbo or Orca say something this good.

Apparently you are too young to know who the NAZI’s were, or even what NAZI stands for. What the NAZI’s are ‘known’ for is the “Final Solution”. Notice the word “Final”.

It was their last step, not their first. Their first step was what you see today in Obamaland.

Ask any survivor of a Socialist regime if you need more clarity on the issue- or read a book. Whichever is easier.

That is one poorly photoshopped picture.

I for one am pretty sick of immediate comparisons to Hitler or Nazi Germany at the drop of a hat. It’s dumb. The same shit was done with Dubya, and despite my distaste for him, I still believe that it was in poor taste. Hitler was responsible for leading a nation to declare war across Europe and slaughter millions of people. Getting extra scrutiny by the IRS for trying to create a politically-named group that by law can’t have political work as its #1 cause isn’t even a molecule in the bucket compared to that.

Hitler references are the first weapon of choice for those who have zero capability to intellectually argue a point, case in point being the oddly missing BigT.

Dude. It’s Will Folks. Since he doesn’t seem to get many real scoops anymore (OMG! CSOL is being sold! Stop the presses!), he has to resort to histrionics.

One wonders where he’s getting his money, though. Is he taking money from Netflix in some modern payola scheme? Ravenel funneling some cash for “consulting” which isn’t disclosed? I mean, am I wrong to wonder?

Has anyone considered the possibility that the GOP was targeting Tea Party and Progressive groups? (Besides the fact that all of this during the Bush administration under the leadership of a Bush appointee). The GOP had much more to gain from the suppression of the Tea Party than the Dems did. The Tea Party was the greatest gift the Dems ever received because it split the Republican party. What did the Dems stand to gain by targeting the Tea Party? If I were a strategist I would have fueled the flames not tried to snuff them out.
