One of the hottest – and most eloquent – recent additions to the S.C. House of Representatives is S.C. Rep. Mia Butler (D-Richland).
Errr sorry, Mia Butler-Garrick. Errr, sorry again … Mia McLeod.
Wait … why all the name changes? That’s a good question … and no one (and we mean no one) at the S.C. State House seems to have an answer for it.
All we know is that the name change is a relatively recent phenomenon, and has been linked to some racy rumors involving a sitting State Senator who has been one of Butler/ Butler-Garrick/ McLeod’s most aggressive political supporters.

Anyway, we don’t agree with much of what McLeod stands for ideologically, but she has been on the mark a few times on certain issues – and she strikes us as a substantive voice in the S.C. General Assembly, which is why we’ve posted several of her opinion pieces on our website.
Still, we’d be remiss not to do some digging on the subject … particular since our usually reliable network of sources is so uncharacteristically quiet (dare we say confused) on this matter.
