FITSNewsColumbia, SC – State Senator Brad Hutto today called the recommendation from Governor Haley’s Ethics Reform Panel to allow state officials to use state aircraft for ceremonial bill signings and press conferences an invitation to abuse tax dollars.
Senator Hutto issued the following statement:
“South Carolina taxpayers should not be footing the bill for public officials to fly around playing politics. Ceremonial bill signings and press conferences are nothing but politics. This recommendation by Governor Haley’s Ethics Reform Committee is nothing but an effort to give public officials a free ride to play politics and it’s an invitation for abuse of public funds. These aircraft should be for official business, not for a South Carolina Good-Ole Boy Airlines.”
