A Hanahan, South Carolina man was arrested this month and charged with making threats against the life of a Palmetto State circuit court judge *(and an attorney).

According to a news release from the S.C. State Law Enforcement Division (SLED), 50-year-old Darrell Edwards of Hanahan was charged with threatening “the life, person or family of a public official.”

A probable cause affidavit accompanying the warrant for Edwards’ arrest alleged that on February 10 of this year, he accused the attorney and the judge of sabotaging a case in which he was involved and “accepting payments” for doing so.”

As a result, Edwards said he “had made up his mind to put an end to all of this and take care of their asses.”

Asked for clarification, Edwards allegedly said “I’m going to take matters into my own hands and take (them) out … get justice because I can’t get it no other way.”

Edwards further stated that he would take his own life after committing these crimes, according to the warrant.  Oh, and he was armed with a handgun at the time he made the threat.

Here’s a look at the release and the warrant …

Edwards was booked at the Berkeley County, S.C. detention center.  His case will be prosecuted by the office of S.C. ninth circuit solicitor Scarlett Wilson.

As with anyone accused of committing any crime, Edwards should be considered innocent until proven guilty by a jury of his peers (or until such time as he makes a pleading in connection with the case).
