You’re not allowed to talk about S.C. Gov. Nikki Haley’s kids … especially if you’re a member of the media.

“The media is not allowed to talk to me about my children,” Haley told WYFF TV 4 (NBC – Greenville, S.C.) last week. “The media has gone too far. You can attack me. You can talk about me all you want. But you have to leave my children alone.”

Haley was responding, of course, to the controversy created by her own Department of Parks Recreation and Tourism (SCPRT) when it decided to hire her 14-year-old daughter to a taxpayer-funded position in the S.C. State House gift shop.

In Haley’s world that wasn’t nepotism … it was an attack on her children.

Anyway speaking of the governor’s kids, Haley was back to peppering her Facebook page with their exploits (some real, some imagined) this week – posting a picture of her son, Nalin, with Carolina Panthers’ quarterback Cam Newton (Haley was in Spartanburg, S.C. to celebrate the 20th … err, 19th anniversary of Charlotte being awarded an NFL franchise).

Just don’t ask her any questions about it, alright?

Kids should be off limits … we agree with Haley on that. ┬áBut when she regularly exploits them for political gain and has the audacity to get one of them a taxpayer-funded job in one of her cabinet agencies, she’s flung that particular door wide open …
