Two top bureaucrats at S.C. Gov. Nikki Haley’s embattled Department of Employment and Workforce (SCDEW) resigned this week.
Michael Buchman, the agency’s director of business services, submitted his resignation on Monday. Meanwhile Dennis King – an assistant director of employment services at the agency – also resigned Monday.

SCDEW “Regionalizing” Services
The S.C. Department of Employment and Workforce (SCDEW) is blaming a loss of federal funding for its decision to stop offering in-person unemployment insurance services at sixteen rural locations.
