OFFSHORE DRILLING, SOLAR ENERGY, NUCLEAR POWER AMONG TOPICS

Catherine Heigel – director of the S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control (SCDHEC) – will be the keynote speaker at a day-long environmental symposium in Charleston, S.C. this week.

The Law of Energy” – co-hosted by The Charleston School of Law and Furman University – will address offshore drilling, solar energy and nuclear power, among other issues.

What will Heigel say on these various subjects?

Good question …

SCDHEC really doesn’t have the authority to stop offshore drilling (something we support), but as we’ve seen in the past this agency has tremendous power.

Which it doesn’t always use for the good of the state …

Anyway, we’re told Heigel has drawn the ire of the state’s “business community” in recent weeks because of alleged slowdowns in permitting procedures.  Several “Republican” elected officials are also upset because she reportedly donated to Democratic candidates in the past.  And because she has asked for more money in her agency’s budget.

Heigel was appointed to lead SCDHEC last spring after Eleanor Kitzman – S.C. governor Nikki Haley‘s first choice to replace Catherine Templeton at the helm of the state’s largest agency – withdrew her name in disgrace.

Templeton was well-regarded during her tenure as an efficient manager who streamlined permitting and reduced unnecessary spending.

Anyway, the “Law of Energy” symposium will be held at the Charleston Music Hall beginning at 8:15 a.m. EST and ending at 3:15 p.m.  For those of you attorneys reading this, it qualifies for five hours of Continuing Legal Education (CLE) credits – with walk-in CLE registrations accepted at the door for a tuition of $150.  Attendance without the CLE credit is free, while the event is open to the public for free.

So CSOL, having vacated many Charleston storefronts, is still in existence?

Weird looking…wasn’t she red headed when hired? Reminds me of Miss Jane from the Beverly Hillbillies.

As long as oil stays below approx. $50/barrel offshore drilling ain’t gonna be a factor. BP is laying off 9,000 souls due to the falling prices and oil producers here in the states (like Texas) are shutting down oil rigs, support services, etc. in droves. Alaska might have to go back to income taxes due to the low price of oil.

So true …

Hmm…..what is more dangerous to a Sheik or Texas refinery…? Bakken fracking and tar sands or the funding to ISIS…?

What is more dangerous to a father with kids…….oil that those kids may have to DIE for in another country or LOCAL offshore energy that comes with yearly stipend royalties…?

We are better than Egypt and Israel ….are we not?

Why in the hell, Sic, do you support offshore drilling? One major spill, and your precious body-surfing waters off PI will be like the drainage dump at your local Jiffy Lube. There is a surfeit of oil reserves now in the USA. Wind and solar are finally getting traction, even in SC. Nobody needs to keep mindlessly depleting the earth’s finite resources of fossil fuels now. That era has passed.

It’s unlike you to dance to the Koch brother’s tune. I just don’t get it.

That would be a bad thing? Heigel has her work cut out for her. Not sure what part of this article fluffed her …

….Because she knows “I” am reading this article and just put 150 dollars down to attend…!

Wil, there is a “wattage” reason your doing this, is it not..? Dare to wonder how aware these lawyers attending this function are on the laws surrounding the info found here: https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=egypts+lost+power

Dare to wonder if Tim Scott will be attending?

…BEACH Company…?

…Kinder Morgan….?

Why would an “oil company” be paying lawyers to shut down off-shore drilling …or off shore wind…?

Would Fitsnews report about “Leviathan” …?

Dear Catherine Heigle, we hope you have done a little historical flashback and asked yourself how Texas Towers were used..? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Texas_Towers

What type of historical SONAR testing has been done up and down the eastern seaboard for “energy” exploration..? How does DHEC “verify” if the information that you are receiving is correct..? Matter of fact, ask your DHEC workers how many of them even know what a Texas Tower is..? Most will say a RADAR Tower. Which is partially true. When T. Boone Pickens puts up his wind turbines all across the Midwest, most everyone thinks it is to harness the wind. Catherine, you do have a aquifer map of the Midwest handy don’t you? How would those wind turbines be used to pump water to California..? What is more thought provoking is if those landowners who sign turbine rights to T. Boone Pickens were told of the value of water in addition to the Wind Energy. So, Catherine, how many lawyers on Friday will ask you about this article on Fitsnews..? What does it have to do with offshore “potential” as well as on-shore energy potential? Really, really think Catherine, why would a hoard of migrants move from an oil rich desert in the Middle East to Germany and France and London and Norway..? Catherine, if you were to wear the crown of Catherine the “Great” would you not want as many people to leave your gold mine so that you can keep more gold..? Have them move to a country that is gonna turn around and BUY your oil..? What if you are a DHEC migrant and just dont realize you are looking at the wrong map? You may want to watch this documentary here and think. https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=egypts+lost+power

Does this documentary say anything of the VAST solar energy resources that Egypt is sitting on..? ..or Geo-thermal..? Why not..? How long has “Leviathan” been known about..? What gas field has been “discovered” off Egypt’s coast since the documentary was made..? How are Egyptian citizens and Israel citizens just like You and I..? Catherine the DHEC website can do a whole lot better.

Have a good day…

Chris
