CLEMSON STUDENT INVOLVED IN FATAL FALL FROM MEMORIAL STADIUM STANDS
A 19-year-old Clemson University student was discovered dead early Tuesday after he fell an estimated 120 feet from the top of the south stands of Memorial Stadium (a.k.a. Death Valley).
The Pickens County (S.C.) coroner has identified the student as Michael Joseph Allen – a Georgia native.
Allen’s death – which was first reported at around 8:00 a.m. EST on Tuesday – is being investigated jointly by the S.C. State Law Enforcement Division (SLED), Pickens County sheriff’s deputies and Clemson University police.
No word yet on what Allen was doing at the stadium- as Clemson’s last home game was held on November 21 – but a SLED spokesman told The Greenville News that foul play was not suspected.
Of course (sadly) we’ve learned not to trust what the authorities say when it comes to suspicious student deaths on the Clemson campus …

If this is indeed a suicide, then it is one too many. Colleges need to put more resources into Counseling. There needs to be a safe protocol for friends of students who are talking about suicide. Not all can be prevented, but many can be prevented if students are made aware of how to help those in need.
The greatest season is the otherwise marginal record of Clemson football, and it’s marred by this horrible development. God be w/ the family.
That program can’t catch a break, it seems.
And with CU’s history of unexplained student deaths – and scandal surrounding them – there’s no wonder where this will lead…
And remember: Dabo is ALL IN…that means in the hard times too. Will he be questioned?
